MODEL MAKING Jack SNARY 01992 638046 st 1 Wednesday of the month, 2pm, Green Dragon, Churchgate MORNING WALKS Rob SCOTT 01992 445288 Please remember that we walk at a moderate pace, so that we can cover the whole route in 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 hours and conditions can often be very wet and muddy, so appropriate footwear and clothing should always be worn. October 1st and 3rd were miserable and wet, but Tuesday 2nd saw 15 walkers out in glorious sunshine around Widford and Hunsdon. It was good to see a new face, Steve, on the walk. The next walk will be on Tuesday 4th November, starting at 10.00am from Youngsbury Lane, beside The Feathers Inn, 49 Cambridge Road, Wadesmill SG12 0TN or Grid Ref 359176. It is a 6.5 mile circular walk, passing the tower of Thundridge Old Church of All Hallows and Little Saint Mary, before climbing out of the Rib Valley and going through some wonderful Hertfordshire countryside, with just the birds breaking into the solitude. We pass close to Timber Hall near Cold Christmas and then Sawtrees Farm to Barwick Ford where we cross the River Rib again, before gently climbing up to the Youngsbury estate. There are a couple of claggy fields to cross, so white stilettos are definitely a no, no! (That goes for the ladies as well) It is a cracking walk, so don't miss it! From Cheshunt, travel north along the A10 passing the A602 turn off and then take the next turn signed Ware A1170 Wadesmill, Thundridge. Continue north on the A1170 for 1 mile before turning right into Youngsbury Lane next to The Feathers Inn. Anyone who will be at the Nags Head on 2nd December for our Christmas meal, can give me their £10.00 deposit on the November walk or alternatively let Marilyn Gould have it at the October monthly meeting. My mobile number on walk day is 07594427190.
