The 7 member panel will be called 'Advisory Group for Integrated Development of Power, Coal and Renewable Energy.' The group’s mandate includes looking into subjects including optimal energy mix; state action plan for 24X7 power for all; requisite transmission and distribution infrastructure; development of renewable energy from sources like oceanic, bio-mass, coal bed methane and coal gasification; optimising fuel supplies; energy efficiency; research and development; and innovation. A power ministry spokesperson said that he was not aware of the creation of the group. According to sources, members of the group will include Mr Pratyush Sinha former chief vigilance commissioner; Mr Anil Baijal, former home secretary; Mr Partha S Bhattacharyya, former Coal India chairman and Mr R V Shahi, former power secretary. Mr Suresh Prabhu, a Shiv Sena member of Parliament from Maharashtra, was widely expected to take over as power minister immediately after the NDA swept to power in a landslide electoral victory last month. However, PM Mr Narendra Modi chose former banker Mr Piyush Goyal for the portfolio. The advisory group will be assisted by the officers of the power, coal and renewable energy ministries and would meet as often as required. Source - Business Standard John Deere Foundry’s Expansion Completed Deere & Company — the manufacturer of heavy machinery for agricultural operations — initiated a multi-year modernization program for its Waterloo, IA, operations in 2010, including an expansion project for the gray and ductile iron John Deere Foundry there. Deere said then that its efforts were focused on "meeting customer requirements and improving business performance," and would allow the company to manufacture more advanced casting designs with more advanced manufacturing technologies. "The enhancement of our foundry operations follows recent investments in the Waterloo Works to improve manufacturing capacity and flexibility," stated David Everett, president of Deere & Company's Worldwide Agriculture & Turf Division. "This integrated approach at John Deere in the design and manufacturing of large row crop and four-wheel-drive tractors is a competitive advantage." "This investment allows us to better serve our customers with high quality, innovative castings," said Richard Czarnecki, global director - Large Tractor product line. "This investment helps John Deere meet customer requirements for more sophisticated designs of large tractors and helps to ensure the company maintains manufacturing flexibility and responsiveness to market demands." The expansion was completed earlier this year, and the foundry allowed visitors some views of its new capabilities.
