Assistant Vice Chancellor for Educational Programs and Instructional Technology The Virginia Community College System invites applications for the new position of Assistant Vice Chancellor for Educational Programs and Instructional Technology to lead its 23 community colleges with 40 campuses serving over 234,000 full and part-time students in credit programs and 125,000 students in non-credit workforce programs in these crucial areas. By insuring that educational programming, instructional technology and distance education are coordinated to achieve an integrated teaching and learning environment, the position will play a significant role in achieving the System's goals called Dateline 2009. The position's responsibilities fall in two general areas: Educational Programs: The Assistant Vice Chancellor assists the colleges with all curricular issues including the development of new programs, curriculum planning, and management of the System program review and approval process. It also serves as the lead in developing and maintaining seamless transfer agreements and special programs such as teacher preparation with four year colleges and universities. Instructional Technology: The Assistant Vice Chancellor provides vision, leadership and direction in the continuing system effort to assist faculty with the opportunity to move forward in the area of instructional technology and distance education. The position directs on-going efforts to identify unmet needs, assess current strengths, and make proposals for future instructional technology directions in the traditional classroom as well as in distance education programs. Qualifications: Candidates must have a Master's degree in a related field with a doctorate preferred. Extensive knowledge and experience in educational planning, curriculum and instructional technology required. Previous teaching experience and management experience that includes supervision of a staff in a higher education environment are essential. Demonstrated successful experience in leading committees or task forces to the accomplishment of a specific goal is helpful. The ability to establish effective channels of communication with diverse groups and excellent writing skills are required. This is an administrative faculty appointment with a salary range of $85,048-$110,563. The search will remain open until the position is filled.
