Ms. Jane Eyre
Director, Human Resources
KVC

Parkersburg, WV 26101
Dear Ms. Eyre:
I recently learned of the opening you have for the position of Family Service Specialist through
indeed.com's website. I am interested in your position because it would give me the opportunity
to work in a field that I feel passionate about joining; having grown up in a poor, lower-class
neighborhood, I understand the need for Family Service Specialists on a personal level as well
as a professional one.
As a recent graduate of the West Virginia University Psychology program, I have been trained in
many of the skills necessary for the Family Service Specialist position. I've taken courses in
learning and behavior theory, behavior modification, behavior analysis on the applied and
theoretical level, the psychology of adjustment, and many others. My independent study
synthesized basic knowledge of behavior analysis and shaping techniques in order to complete
a hands-on animal training project, which I did very well on.
As you will see in my resume, I was a Resident Assistant in one of WVU's dormitories during
my senior year. I feel that this experience has given me the basis of experience I need to be a
valuable member of your company. As a Resident Assistant, I was on call at all hours in case of
emergency. I was also required to be self-motivated and self-directed. Perhaps most
importantly, I was required to be a leader and a known presence on the residential floor,
someone for fellow residents to feel comfortable coming to with problems or questions or
anything else they may have needed. All of these requirements are very similar to qualities that
were listed in your job description, which is why I feel I would be a great asset to your company.
Having graduated Magna Cum Laude with a G.P.A. of 3.74 and being commended with the
honor of Most Distinguished Senior in the Psychology department, I feel that I display the ability
and willingness to learn any skill set that I have not yet obtained, as well as a drive to achieve
any goal that is presented to me.
I hope this will aid you in your decision, and I would love to meet with you in person to further
discuss this opportunity. Please feel free to contact me at (304) 867-5309 any time between 11
A.M. and 3 P.M. on weekdays, or email me at < bneogra@mix.wvu.edu > if you have any
questions.
Thank you for your time,
Brandi Neogra
