Boston Tea Party – Colonists were protesting a tax that the English government required them to pay for tea. They were angry because they had no representative in the English Parliament. Lexington and Concord – The first battle of the American Revolution Declaration of Independence – The colonist listed their grievances (complaints) and declared that they wanted to be an independent nation. Articles of Confederation – The first form of government set up in the United States. The government had limited powers and it was too weak to keep order. The Battle of Yorktown – The battle that ended the American Revolution.
