And I am praying that you will put into action the generosity that comes from your faith as you understand and experience all the good things we have in Christ. Your love has given me much joy and comfort, my brother, for your kindness has often refreshed the hearts of God’s people.” Philemon 1:4 - 7 The Mission of the Information Center Team Engage and connect guests to resources and information about Church of the Highlands. The Importance of the Information Center Team We have the amazing opportunity to assist both members and guests each Sunday! Whether they need a map to Water Baptism, directions to the nursery, questions about the service or other ministries, or details about how to complete the Growth Track and join the Dream Team, we are there. You are one of the first impressions that others have of Church of the Highlands. As such, you have the unique opportunity to set a positive tone for each person’s day by warmly welcoming them and providing assistance as needed. You will be helping others by maintaining order, providing material and direction, and reducing the fears associated with attending a large church. You are partnering with the congregation as they invest in and invite their un-churched neighbors, co-workers, friends or family members to attend church. You may be the only individual contact some people have on Sunday morning and your role is vital as you are entrusted with these relationships. 2 How to achieve the Vision: Expectations for Information Center Team Be on time & attend pre-service team meetings. We will meet 45 minutes before the service begins at the Information Center (the 8am service meets 30 minutes before). At this time you will receive service specific updates, pick up your info table badges and receive your position assignments. We will pray together and ask that the Lord uses us to bless others! Being on time is important because we can’t serve people with excellence unless we are present. Serve when scheduled. If you realize that you will not be able to serve at a time for which you have already been scheduled, it is your responsibility to notify Jessica Allen (jessica.allen@ymail.com), Info Center Team Coordinator, as quickly as possible. Schedules are created one month in advance, so if you know of a conflict with your regularly planned rotation for the upcoming month, please notify Jessica. Be excellent in knowledge. You will be asked lots of questions, about the service, the Growth Track, other ministries, upcoming events and about the church in general. Although it is inevitable that you won’t know the answer to every question, make it your goal to be familiar with as many Highlands fundamentals and events as possible. It is recommended that you go to the church website (www.churchofthehighlands.com) weekly to become familiar with what is currently happening at COTH. Many times members/guests questions are in relation to what they have seen on this site. A map and a monthly calendar of events and services will be provided to you to help ensure that you are aware of current events. However, if you don’t know the answer to a question, ask your team captain for assistance. Smile and engage members and guests. This is so important because we are going to see so many new faces on Sunday. When new guests arrive the Information Center will be their natural first stop, and we become the first person to greet them and welcome them! Take the time to look someone in the eye, smile and learn their name. Proactively offer your assistance. Ask people if you can help them with some information. Many times people are hesitant to ask for help and many do not realize the materials on the tables are free. Ask follow up questions to help you determine what information would be beneficial to that particular person. Remember that a guest or casual attendee may not know what we know, so we have the opportunity to educate them about the Highlands culture. Some questions that will help determine what information you can provide to a guest are as follows: o How long have you been attending Highlands? o Are you involved in a Small Group? o Church Membership 101 (or whatever Growth Track class is featured that day) is tonight at 6 p.m. Have you had a chance to attend it yet? 3 Maintain a well stocked center. It is critical that we maintain a fully stocked Information Center, so be sure to check the Center for supplies when you arrive and restock it if necessary. How to handle a Disturbance/Emergency Two uniformed police officers attend EVERY service as additional security and patrol the lobby and children’s hall. Additionally, First Responders, pastors and staff members are located throughout the lobby area during each service. The Info Center has a radio where we can communicate with the First Responders and police in the event of an emergency. First Responders, staff members and police officers are the only people authorized to call 911. Attire for Information Center Team: ● Take pride in your appearance so that you present a positive and welcoming first impression. ● The attire is business casual, so please do not wear jeans, shorts, t-shirts or flip flops when you are serving on Sunday mornings. They are your key to developing connections with those who share your interests or people who are dealing with similar life issues. Small groups are an opportunity to reach out to others, while growing in your walk with the Lord. Groups meet once a week in homes, businesses, restaurants, or at the church. The groups change and begin again three times a year, so you have the opportunity to try out different ones. You'll never fully experience all that Church of the Highlands has to offer until you connect in a small group! “Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Christ.” Acts 5:42 Small groups meet in homes, restaurants, sports fields, coffee shops, ect. Highlands has a free market system where leaders are able to choose what curriculum they would like to use and groups range from sports teams, bible studies, fellowship groups, L.I.F.E groups, ect. Semester Dates The Winter Semester runs January 30th through May 7th The Summer semester runs from June 5 through July 16 For more information on Small Groups, please contact Katy Hodges (katy@churchofthehighlands.com) 19 L.I.F.E. Groups (Living In Freedom Everyday) L.I.F.E Groups are some of the most popular small groups we have here at Highlands. The Life group curriculum was developed here at Church of the Highlands and offers groups for Men, Women, Students, and Married Couples. The L.I.F.E curriculum is 12 weeks long and is offered every Fall and Winter/Spring Semester. Jesus said that He came to give us life. Many people fail to experience the full life that Jesus intended. L.I.F.E groups help close the door on yesterday so we can reach God’s intended potential for our lives. The small group blends Bible study, relationships, and a powerful retreat in the end of the semester. For additional information about L.I.F.E groups and materials, please contact Emily Byars (emily@churchofthehighlands.com). PRAYER Highlands believes that prayer is powerful and essential in your walk with the Lord. During all Sunday services, intercessors meet and cover Pastor Chris, the worship team, the children’s church, and all who attend in prayer. Every Saturday morning, Highlands Prayer Force meets at the Grants Mill and Riverchase campuses at 9am. Here you will experience the Word and powerful worship as you connect with the Lord and with each other. This team prays for the weekend services, the city, state, nation and the world. 20 PASTORAL CARE If someone is in the hospital or has passed away, Pastor Marcus Wright (marcus@churchofthehighlands) is the pastor to contact.
