A little about this church: Bethany is a caring community of people
walking together on their spiritual journeys. We seek to provide meaning
and hope to all people through worship, friendship, and using the gifts God
has given us. We believe in Jesus, God’s Son, and seek to follow Him in
all we do. We also trust the Bible as God’s authoritative Word to all
humans, and seek to treat others the way we would want to be treated.
Everyone is welcome at Bethany Baptist Church! We offer a

Pastor Jim appreciates your prayer as he undergoes
gallbladder surgery tomorrow, and recovers throughout this week.
Surgery is tomorrow morning at Toronto East General Hospital, and he is
expected to be home again tomorrow evening.
We welcome Eugene Colley back as our Caretaker! Austin MacDonald
has served us well for the past year but needed to resign for a personal
matter. We are pleased Eugene has offered to return to the position he
held for many years.
THANK YOU to everyone who supported the East York Strategy
Community Dinner last Friday. We had about 100
people in total, and it was a great community event to
come together to continue to “grow the good” for our
youth. From the dinner and silent auction, we have
raised over $2400 so far for East York Strategy, going
especially to our Summer Camp here @ Bethany.

League here at Bethany. Feel free to come by and watch some good
youth play good basketball!

Tuesday (3:15-5:15pm): East York Strategy YOLO After-School Drop-in
Wednesday,
7:45pm Choir Practice: everyone is welcome to be part of our Choir -- a
great group of singers who enjoy being together. Join us!!
Thursday: FOOD BANK closed this week (fifth Thursday of month)
7pm: YOLO at Night. Thursday evenings (7pm-8:30pm)
is our engaging night for all students in grades 4-8.
Friday (7pm): High School Youth Group. Come on out for lively
discussion, engaging games, and good friends.
Saturday 8:30am ... Men’s Breakfast. All boys and
men invited for a hot breakfast and good conversation.
THIS Saturday ARTS FEST ~ Creativity in Creation
at Woodbine Heights Baptist Church (1171 Sammon Ave)
10am – 5pm: Visual Arts Exhibition; and Performance (1pm & 4pm)
Local artists connected to Woodbine Heights Church and
L'Arche Toronto. Performance featuring the Woodbine Heights
Drama Club. 416-467-1462.
Sundays coming up: NEXT Sunday, May 3: We welcome special
speaker Dwayne Milley, who works with our own Jeff Jeffords with Christian
Horizons, an organization dedicated to serving those with disabilities.
Come and be informed and inspired by this good work, and by the ways in
which we can all help eliminate barriers and give care to the disabled
among us. Communion also celebrated.
Sunday, May 10: Happy Mother’s Day! Come for a special day in church,
celebrating motherhood and continuing our series on the Beatitudes,
“Blessed Are Those Who Mourn.” Come for the blessing and be comforted!
Next “2 & 4 Thursday”: Thurs. May 14 @ 7pm. Bible Study & Prayer. All
welcome for this relaxed and helpful time.
