International Summer School (2008)
Ewha Womans University
Dear Exchange Partner
I am delighted to inform you that Ewha Womans University is opening its International Co-Ed Summer
School from 23 June to 31 July 2008. We would like to invite your students to join us for splendid summer
program, in Korea.
Ewha International Co-Ed Summer School has a long history of 37 years, along with the commitment to be
one of the best globalized universities. Being the first of its kind, the program provides an academically
rigorous curriculum incorporating with a wide range of fields such as, East Asian Studies/Korean Studies,
Business & Economics, Politics, Law & Culture and Fine Arts & Design, all conducted in English. This
year, we would like to highlight our new subject field “Hallyu: Korean Wave”, which focuses on the study
of current Korean pop culture, which has attracted people from around the world. We offer an extensive
learning opportunity for Korean language for those who are interested in improving Korean language skills,
providing four different classes levels. Also, our summer program is well known for its culture-immersion
activities. We provide not only field trips to both historical and contemporary sites of Korea, but also
hands-on cultural experiences including Korean ceramics, Teakwon-do(traditional Korean martial art),
Samulnori (traditional Korean musical instruments) and temple stay, and more.
A special gathering of high caliber international scholars from varied backgrounds – including politics,
business, academics, media, and entertainment will teach your students during the program. Every year,
students from around the globe participate in the program, which makes it truly international. While
attending our program, your students will not only study and have fun in a multi-cultural environment, but
they will also experience an extensive range of Asian culture.
We open the doors of Ewha Co-Ed Int’l Summer School to students from around the world. We accept feepaying international students, and students from exchange universities are welcomed to our program by
being waived the application fee and tuition. More details can be found on our official website
http://summer.ewha.ac.kr, which will be updated weekly with new information. In a meantime, I have
enclosed copies of promotional materials for the International Co-Ed Summer School.
I would appreciate if you direct the attention of potential students to the Ewha Co-Ed Int’l Summer School
by sharing our program information. If you would nominate your students to enroll as exchange students,
we would like to host two to three summer exchange students as one year-long equivalent student on
exchange studies at Ewha. If you or your students have any questions, please contact our program
coordinator, Ms. Rene Seol at gosummer@ewha.ac.kr
I look forward to meeting as many of your students on the beautiful Ewha campus this summer.
