Candidate should:
- Women Only
- Be government official or employee in public sector or
researcher in state institute working in his/her home country
with a Bachelor’s Degree or higher
- Be nominated by his or her Government
- Have sufficient command of both spoken & written English to
take classes conducted entirely in English
- Be in good health, both physically and mentally, to undergo
the program
(Pregnancy is regarded as a disqualifying condition for
participating in this program )
- Preferably be under 35 years of age
- Have not ever participated in KOICA’s program as well as the
same kind before; or should have 5 year’s elapse from
previous participation in KOICA’s training program

B. ADMISSION AND APPLICATION PROCEDURE
a. Admission Decision Procedure
 Round 1 : Evaluation of Application Package
 Round 2 : Interview by phone
*Note: An interview will be conducted only for those applicants who have passed

Round 1. The phone interview will be conducted strictly in English and the
applicants’ educational objectives and development potential will primarily be
evaluated.

c. Checklist of Documents to Be Submitted
1. KOICA application form
2. Completed Application Form of Ewha GSIS
(Available from the Ewha GSIS homepage (http://gsis.ewha.ac.kr))
3. Statement of Purpose (250-500 words in English, typed)
4. Two letters of recommendation from professors or experts in a field related to
International Development
5. Photocopied college diplomas or proof of prospective graduation
6. Official undergraduate academic transcript
- Transfer students must submit official transcripts from all colleges or
university-level educational institutions they attended.
7. English-proficiency test result from one of the following: TOEFL or IELTS
- The most recent scores are preferred, and must be less than two years from
the application deadline.
- Exemption: International students whose native language is English or who
have received a BA or MA from an accredited English-speaking institution
8. Certificate of Employment (if applicable)
9. Copy of national ID card or passport
10. Two passport-size photos
※ All documents (Diplomas, Transcripts, Statement of Purpose, Recommendation
Letters, etc.) must be submitted in English.

C. EXPENSES
The following expenses will be covered by KOICA.

Tuition fee of regular program
Economy class, round-trip airfare between Seoul (Incheon International Airport) and
Participant’s country
Dormitory charge of school
Monthly living allowance
A medical checkup after entrance

Overseas travel insurance, etc.

D. OTHER REQUIREMENTS
a. Medical Checkup
- KOICA will implement a medical check-up after each participants' arrival in Seoul for
assuring their health condition.
- After the medical check-up, KOICA will finally and officially accept each
participant as a KOICA trainee for the program.
b. Other Regulations
If the participant is found engaged in any of the following during his/her stay in
Korea, his/her status as a KOICA program participant will be suspended.

Participants are required :
to follow the training program to the best of their ability and abide by the rules of
the training institute;
to maintain the grade at the level required by the school for the scholarship
students;
to refrain from engaging in political activities, or any form of employment for profit
or gain;
to return to their home country upon completion of their training program;
not to extend the length of their training program or stay for personal convenience;
not to bring family members(dependents) to Korea or country of training;
to accept that the Korean Government is not liable for any damage or loss of their
personal property;
to accept that the Korean Government will not assume any responsibility for illness,
injury, or death arising from extracurricular activities, willful misconduct, or
undisclosed pre-existing medical conditions;
to carry out such instructions and abide by such conditions as may be stipulated by

the Korean Government in respect to the training program.
