Seoul Korea The University Ewha Woman’s University was founded in 1886 and is one of Korea’s most prestigious universities with a student population of 26,596. Central to Ewha’s success, and to the success of its graduates, is an outstanding faculty of dedicated professors, many of whom are leading scholars in their fields. Ewha is situated in Seoul, the capital city in South Korea. Seoul has a population of approximately 11 million people and is the nation’s cultural, educational and political centre. The architecture of the city contains a mixture of tall modern buildings alongside ancient palaces, temples and shrines. University Website : www.ewha.ac.kr/ Location Located in Seoul, in a district called Shinchon, a safe university town in a cosmopolitan setting bustling with students, Ewha offers in contrast a serene and beautiful campus. Ewha has its own subway stop, just 10 minutes from downtown Seoul. Korea has four distinct seasons. In Autumn there is clear, dry weather, Winter is cold – 5 to –10°c with occasional snow and rain. Spring is mostly sunny and clear and Summer is hot with monsoon rains. Travel Prices are quoted in Korean WON and US Dollars. Incheon International Airport is approx. 70 minutes from Ewha by taxi (costing approx. W70,000). Buses also run from Incheon to the Ewha subway stop (approx. W7,000). There is a door to door taxi pick-up at a discounted rate of US$75. Also available is a Buddy pick-up service at a cost of US$60. Immigration A valid Student Visa (D-2) is required for all students. Upon acceptance at Ewha, students will be issued with an Acceptance Letter and a Certificate of Admission. These two documents are required when applying for a D-2 visa. Visa fee costs are approximately US$50. The cost of housing per semester is W2,500,000 (£1,382.30) for a single room and between W1,400,000 (£774.0) to W920,000 (£502.66) for a double occupancy room (no meals included). Study Abroad @ Exeter EWHA Woman’s University All students are required to hold a medical insurance which covers medical fees during their stay EWHA. Students must pay a Campus Health Service Centre fee of 20 USD (per semester) covers medical services, prescription and common medicines, such as for colds and indigestion.
