Introduction
1. Classic argument (of youth at least): Who is the ultimate superhero?
2. Modern movies: highest grossing films of past decade have been superhero films (Batman, X-Men, SpiderMan, Daredevil, Hulk, Fantastic Four – And Now Superman!). Society is looking for a superhero!
3. What does it take to be considered a superhero? Jesus is the Mold of all Superhero’s.
II. Attributes of Super Heroes – General and Personal
A. General Attributes
1. Signs – Batman (bat in sky), Superman (S), The Cross
2. Alter-ego (Superman – Clark Kent, Spiderman – Peter Parker, Batman – Bruce Wayne, Robin – Dick Grayson,
Flash – Barry Allen, Iron Man – Tony Stark)
 Phil. 2:5-8 - Jesus took the form of a bondservant.
 But He revealed his identity ... so also do heroes to those they love and Jesus loves everyone.
3. Arch Enemy (Joker, Lex Luthor)
 Classic enemy wants people hurt or wants their possessions (money).
 Riddler – overhead – Evil cannot hide!
 Satan - worst foe imaginable; deceptive; wants our souls destroyed.
 2 Cor. 11:14 - Satan transforms himself into an angel of light
4. Super powers (Examples)
 What can't Christ do? Nothing.
 Creator - John 1:3 – “All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was
made.”
 Power - Matt. 9:1-6 - power to forgive sins. (Had power to heal…)
 Authority - Matt. 28:18 – “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.”
5. Guaranteed success (Ex. How are they going to make it? Stay tuned tomorrow…)
 Power over life and death - John 10:17 - 18 (Guaranteed Success)
 Power over the devil - Rev. 20:10 - cast devil into lake of fire.
 Power over death - 1 Cor. 15:26 - last enemy that will be destroyed is death.
6. Sidekick


Batman's Robin the Boy Wonder, Captain America's Bucky, The Human Torch's Toro, SubMariner's Namorita, Superman's pal Jimmy Olsen, Green Arrow's Speedy, Aquaman's Aqualad,
Flash's Kid Flash, X-men, Fantastic Four.
Phil. 2:13 - it is God who works in you.
Jesus uses us to help spread the gospel, power in working together.
B. Personal Attributes
1. Trustworthy – (Name was hollered) Worthy of Trust –What Jesus Did – What Christians expect Him to do.
2. Character – Moral, Ethical Strength - Selflessness
 Luke 22: 45-51,
3. Fortitude - Strength of mind that allows one to endure pain or adversity with courage.
 Mathew 26:52 – “Then Jesus said to him, "Put your sword back into its place; for all those who take up
the sword shall perish by the sword. Or do you think that I cannot appeal to My Father, and He will at
once put at My disposal more than twelve legions of angels? How then will the Scriptures be fulfilled,
which say that it must happen this way?"
4. Determination - Firmness of purpose;
5. Justice - The upholding of what is just, especially fair treatment and due reward in accordance with honor,
standards, or law.
 Mat 27:24 When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took
water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person:
see ye to it. WHY?
 Joh 5:30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek
not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
C. Conclusion:
1. Who is the ultimate superhero? - Jesus Christ, who has the power to save our soul!
John 3:17 – “For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world
through Him might be saved.”
2. Comic Companies did an excellent job in promoting their heroes, we need to be to promote Ours.
3. Christ is the only superhero that is REAL AND ALIVE and can save you from eternal
punishment.
