Students will complete the “Improving Paragraphs” portion of the vocabulary packet and correct it.
Learning target: I can read and understand vocabulary words used in piece of writing.
Students will work with the root word “spec” and words created from it.
Learning target: I can identify the words created from the root word “spec”.
Students will be given a review worksheet for their vocabulary and root words to complete for homework.
Learning target: I can use my vocabulary and root words correctly.
The class will read the short story “The Last Wave”.
Learning target: I can read and identify elements of a short story.
Students will get the yellow Problem of the Week to complete for Friday.
Learning target: I can correct common errors in writing.
The class will correct the review sheet for vocabulary and root words.
Learning target: I know which vocabulary and root words I need to study for the test.
The class will finish reading “The Last Wave” and complete the worksheet on the parts of the short story.
Learning target: I can identify conflict, climax, characters, setting and resolution in a short story.
The class will review the worksheet and discuss the story.
Learning target: I understand the parts of a short story.
Students will go back into the story and look for sensory details and pull specific quotes for the sensory details.
Learning target: I can use evidence from the story to prove a point.
Students will complete the test for vocabulary lesson three and root word “spec”.
Learning target: I can prove my knowledge of vocabulary and root words on a test.
Students will be assigned the “Inferences” section of the review vocabulary packet.
Learning target: I can start to review and prepare for the review vocabulary test.
Students will correct the Problem of the Week from last Friday.
