40th annual Steer Dinner raises record-breaking funds for student scholarships during
Avila’s centennial year

Avila has been awarded a 2015-2020 TRIO Student Support Service (SSS) Program grant from the U.S. Department of Education.


Avila University has been named top 100 Most Affordable Small Colleges West of the
Mississippi by the national website, Great Value Colleges. The list consists of colleges and universities that “offer great value – that is, an ideal blend of high caliber and low cost."

After an extensive application process, Avila University’s Master of Science in
Organizational Development (MSOD) with a concentration or certificate in Leadership
Coaching received recognition for Approved Coach Specific Training Hours (ACSTH).

The 2015 graduation ceremony not only commemorated the 424 Avila University graduates, but also three Avila alumnae and sisters that participated in one of the most iconic movements in this nation’s history.

On April 11, Avila University students Austin Armstrong and Jordan Burns participated in the Beta Beta Beta District II Convention hosted by Southwestern College in Kan. where the two seniors presented separate research projects with Armstrong and Burns sweeping the competition.


The Iota Pi Chapter of Beta Beta Beta, the national biological honor society, at Avila
University recently held its 17th annual induction ceremony in the Whitfield Conference
Center.

The Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals’ (AMCP) announced its
2015 International AVA Digital Awards Competition winners and Erin Casey Lee sophomore Communication student won individual honors for her campaign entitled
“{I}nd the Stigma” (pronounced End the Stigma).

Avila University’s J. Anthony Snorgrass, Ph.D., MCRP, AICP, has been named Top 100
Most Influential Kansas Citians by the Kansas City Globe for his work in Education.

Paul Toler has accepted the Vice President for Finance and Administrative Services
(CFO) position and will start June 1, 2015. He will be a forward-thinking and strategic leader for the university and a collaborative member of the Executive Committee.

Students in Avila’s Theatre Department recently returned with several national awards in tow from the Kennedy Center’s American College Theatre Festival Region V
Conference.

Avila University's School of Education will offer two new international education degrees in the fall of 2015 designed for students – both international and domestic – who want to go on to careers with institutions, agencies and schools around the world.

Previously VP for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty at Cottey College, Pridal assumes position from Marie Joan Harris, CSJ, Ph.D., starting in June.

