SUMMARY:

* Utilizing the upmost customer service skills AHC obtains caller information, triaging caller's situation to the appropriate department.

* Utilizing crisis de-escalation techniques, and cognitive behavioral interventions staff will determine the specific needs and referrals needed for caller, and route caller's needs to specific Hennepin County department.

* After Hours crisis counselors provide appropriate interventions, while assessing danger to self/danger to others, or any possible imminent danger to vulnerable adults and children. Communicate clearly with crisis responders such at 911 operators or Police Officers.

* Depending on the specific protocol After Hour crisis counselors then provide appropriate interventions, while assessing caller for any safety concerns. Supports and advocates on behalf of client in the procurement of services and benefits entitlement.

* Makes referrals to and coordinates appropriate community resources for client.

* Maintains complete case documentation and records, as required by

Catholic Charities, the funders, or licensure/regulatory bodies.

* Adheres to all Catholic Charities policies and procedures related to the care of clients, and is aware of and responds to client circumstances that put the client in any type of danger or risk for abuse.

* Participates in the education of the community, volunteers, service providers, and other interested parties with respect to client services and programs.

* Coordinates with the Program Manager on all aspects of client care, and seeks appropriate guidance and feedback from other team members.

* Represent Catholic Charities at community meetings, task forces, etc. as requested by the Program Manager.

* Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

* Must be able to work overnights, weekends, and Holidays.

* Bachelor's Degree in human services.

* Social work background preferred with three years experience working with individuals and/or families in crisis.

* Experience in individual, family, and group counseling preferred.

* Experience working with clients that may have complex psychosocial concerns including mental health issues, unstable housing, unemployment, lack of medical insurance, dysfunctional relationships, and legal concerns.

* Must have a valid driver's license with clear driving record.

* Must be willing to volunteer at least four times a year to stay for a family night or other events held at the center during after hours.

* Respond to and supervise age appropriate toileting needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Development, Education or related field preferred.

* Must meet Minnesota Department of Human Services licensing qualifications as stated in Rule 3 for a Teacher.

* Experience working in center-based child-care.

* Must have valid driver's license acceptable to insurance company, and current insurance.

* Desire to care for young children with an ability to promote child development information to parents.
