This course will focus on family and personal budgeting, building a good credit history
and the use of credit. Students will be exposed to the use of insurance, checking and
saving accounts, stocks, bonds, mutual funds, credit cards, mortgages, taxes and federal,
state and local tax structure. Students will learn about buying (leasing) a new or used
motor vehicle, renting or buying a home and how to develop a career search strategy.
This course will prepare the student for his or her role as a citizen, a consumer and a
productive member of society.

COURSE METHODOLOGY:
Classes will consist of lectures, class discussions, small group projects, videos, outside
assignments and supplemental materials. Interactive class discussion is encouraged and
staying current on reading assignments necessary to be able to actively participate in
class discussions.

Depending on requirements of the instructor evaluation will be based on midterm exam,
final exam, research, term paper, group projects, attendance, and class participation.

participate in class discussions and display sincere adult behavior.
Instructor responsibilities: Expand and explain the subject material, facilitate class
discussion and be available for student conferences.
