American Society for Quality Blue Ridge Section 1108 Presents Design of Experiments Two Day Workshop Wednesday and Thursday, March 16 - 17, 2011 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (lunch included) Plecker Workforce Center, Room P126-A Blue Ridge Community College, Weyers Cave, VA Workshop Description Designed experiments are systematic, efficient methods of experimentation used to understand the underlying relationships that determine process performance and to optimize process performance over time. At the completion of this two day seminar, students will: Understand and be capable of planning, conducting, and analyzing designed experiments to understand and improve processes in their organizations. Learn how to use Minitab ANOVA and DOE functions to design and analyze singe factor experiments, full factorial experiments, fractional factorial experiments, and factorial experiments with center points and blocks. Know how to deal with practical issues in designing, conducting, and analyzing experiments To keep costs down, participants will need to bring their own laptops to the workshop. Minitab 16 Statistical Software will be used in the training. A free trial version of Minitab 16 will be available to download from Minitab. Susan O. Schall, Ph.D., President, SOS Consulting, LLC, has over 20 years experience delivering improved performance through strategic process improvement. Susan has broad experience in engineering, statistical and business process improvement methodologies, including Six Sigma, team-based problem-solving, Lean, quality management systems, operations assessment, and strategic planning . Prerequisite Knowledge: The Design of Experiments workshop is designed for those individuals that have a solid math background (proficiency with least college algebra), basic statistics knowledge, including measures of central tendency and dispersion and hypothesis testing, and solid working of Excel. Familiarity with Minitab is a plus. Cost: ASQ Blue Ridge Section is able to offer this two day workshop at a reduced price of $200 for ASQ members and $250 for non-ASQ members. A special discount rate of $100 is available to any ASQ members currently unemployed and in the job market. Cost includes lunch. Registration: Class size is limited to 24 students. An early bird registration will be limited to current ASQ members through Friday, February 18. Any remaining seats will then be open to others through Friday, March 4. Registration begins at 7:30 AM.
