CPE Credits for Chapter Events
What is This Service About? – An added value for any event is the ability to offer CPE credits for
attendance. Chapters can offer CPE credit for qualifying local events via the FEI National
registration number. FEI National is a member of the national registry for CPE sponsors with
NASBA as well as being individually registered in states that don’t recognize NASBA to offer CPE
credit for live events. This service removes the administrative burden for chapters regarding the
distribution and collection of evaluations and printed certificates.
How Does It Work? – We developed the technology, which allows individual members and nonmembers to manage their CPE credits so their CPA license renewals are a painless process
(especially for those being audited!). The CPE Center, located in the “my account” section of
FEI.org allows individuals to track both FEI and non-FEI CPE credits. FEI credits, chapter events
included, would appear in the respective individuals account once the event has been approved and
their attendance verified. Non-FEI events would be the responsibility of the individual to manually
input in order to track it through our system.
What Does the Chapter Have To Do? – Chapters are responsible for providing the information on
the checklist before the event so the program can be evaluated to see if it qualifies for CPE credit.
After the event chapters must submit a sign in sheet of actual attendees before CPE credits can be
issued. Marketing for all approved programs must include the following boilerplate information
regarding CPE credits:
Point of contact at National is Sue Cully at scully@financialexecutives.org or 973 765-1043.
What Will National Be Doing? – We will be reviewing the information submitted by the chapter
to make sure that it conforms to NASBA or the State Societies guidelines for qualifying programs.
We will maintain the records for the 5-year period required by NASBA. We will complete the
necessary yearly reports to NASBA or state society so the event is recognized. We will reconcile
the attendance sheet and make sure the evaluation form and certificate appears in the members
account.
What Does It Cost? – Cost is broken down by chapter size according to the following schedule
(chapter size is based on the number of national members in your chapter as of July 1)
Small Chapter (0-75 members)
$400 per year
Medium Chapter (76-200 members) $500 per year
Large Chapter (201 and above members)- $600 per year

FEI Chapter Checklist for CPE Credit Approval
In order for a program to be considered to qualify for CPE Credit from FEI National, the
following items must be provided to FEI National prior to the program:
__ Chapter Name _______________________________
__ Location__________________________________________________
__ Date of program _____________________________
__ Exact time of presentation including Q&A.
Each CPE Credit is based on 50-minute periods. (Submitting that the chapter meeting
is from 5:30 to 8:00 including reception is not sufficient)
__ Title of Program ______________________________
__ Description of program content, including speaker presentations/outlines
__ List of all speakers
__ Biographies/critical information on all speakers
__ Copy of marketing materials for the program, ex. Meeting Notice.
Once National receives ALL information above, please allow 3 business days for
consideration.
After the program is complete the chapter is responsible for providing a sign-in sheet with the actual
signatures of members requesting CPE credit. Upon receipt of the sign-in sheet the event will be
“released” and members can go online to complete the evaluation and print their certificates. There
is no time limit for members to have to complete the evaluations or print certificates. Members can
print certificates as many times as they like.
National may conclude that a program does not qualify for CPE credit. Please plan accordingly if
you are marketing your program in advance of requesting approval for CPE. We would recommend
that you provide information to National for CPE consideration prior to marketing the event to
avoid any confusion.
Credits are provided based on the CPE Primary Fields of Study: Accounting, Accounting
(governmental), Auditing, Auditing (Governmental), Administrative Practice, Social Environment
of Business, Regulatory Ethics, Business Law, Business Management and Organization, Finance,
Management Advisory Services, Marketing, Behavioral Ethics, Communications, Personal
Development, Personnel/HR, Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, Production, Specialized
Knowledge and Application, Statistics, Taxes
Unless you receive CPE approval from FEI National, you may not use FEI’s NASBA License
Number on any of your program information.
(All programs are reviewed in accordance with the National Association of State Boards of
Accountancy (“NASBA”) Guidelines.)
