Fact: Recycling 5 plastic soda bottles yields enough fiber for one extra large t-shirt. Keep Recycling Clean! Having great participation really makes our program work, what also makes our program work is recycling the correct materials, thereby reducing contamination. Contamination increases the financial and environmental costs of recycling. Some helpful hints are: • Recyclables that are placed inside plastic bags are difficult to process. • Styrofoam and other packing materials are NOT recyclable in Rio Rancho. • Glass is NOT accepted in Rio Rancho for recycling. There is a point when a program must be cancelled or modified if there is insufficient registration. All programs require a high level of coordination often including facility scheduling, staffing, volunteer recruitment, and purchasing of supplies. Photo Policy Participants permit the taking of photos and videos of themselves and their children during Parks, Recreation and Community Services activities, programs, and special events for publication and use, as the Department deems necessary. Volunteers Many of our programs depend on volunteer help. If you wish to put your expertise to use in a program or would like to find out what volunteer opportunities are available, please call us at 891-5015. Sponsorship Parks, Recreation and Community Services has many opportunities for sponsorships. We offer only first-class, quality programs, and special events. If you are interested in how we can help you reach your customers and promote your business, contact Connie Peterson at 891-5015. Hikes are rated based on degree of difficulty and generally there is a hike that will appeal to most levels of fitness. Hiking is a great way to improve health while enjoying the outdoors. Hearing and Hearing Aid Checks Twice a month, audiologists provide free clinics at the MSC. In addition to hearing screenings, they provide a number of services including hearing aid cleaning and discount hearing aid batteries.
