Catalog Description: Linear equations and applications, linear forms and systems of linear equations, matrix algebra and
applications, linear programming, probability and applications, statistics. Prerequisites: High School Algebra I and II and
Geometry.
Calculator Policy: A TI-83/TI-84 (Plus) is REQUIRED; these are the only calculators I will use in class for
demonstrations. Calculators will be reset for exams, without exception.
Homework and Quizzes:
 Homework and quizzes will constitute 25% of your grade. This may consist of online homework and quizzes,
written homework and unannounced quizzes given in class.

 In addition to the graded homework, I recommend that you keep a spiral in which you work the problems from
the suggested homework list found on our course web page. It is imperative that you work at least the suggested
problems, as well as the assigned problems, in order to be fully prepared for quizzes and exams. More practice
may be necessary for you to be successful.
 NOTE: While it is critical that you attain the correct answer to a question, you MUST show correctly, precisely,
and accurately its solution (all the steps, labels, explanations, equal signs, models, etc.) in an orderly, clear,
concise manner. Where appropriate, circle your final answer. YOU are responsible for your own learning.
Exams: The three major exams will constitute 50% of your grade. The dates of these exams will be announced in class.
You must bring your student ID to each exam. Calculators will be checked during or before each exam.

FINAL EXAM: The final exam is COMPREHENSIVE and constitutes 25% of your final grade.

Grades: The grade distribution will be as follows:
A: 90-100%
B: 80-89%
C: 70-79%
D: 60-69%
F: Below 60%
Policies: Policies pertaining to absences, scholastic dishonesty, and final exams are identical to TAMU regulations.
 You are responsible for checking your neo account.
 Attendance is expected and will be used in conjunction with your final exam grade as a consideration in the case
of borderline grades. By attendance, I mean active class participation, not just showing up and sitting in the
classroom.
 If you disagree with any deduction taken on your homework, quizzes or exams, you must bring it to my attention
before your next class to be re-graded.
 Students with an official excused absence are permitted to make up work only for the dates of the absence. No
make-up exams or quizzes will be given without a doctor’s excuse. In the case of illness, a student MUST
contact me within TWO days and present a valid doctor’s excuse before the make-up will be given.

o An Aggie does not lie, cheat, or steal, or tolerate those who do.
o Note: It is considered CHEATING to have notes, formulas, or programs in your calculator other than
the ones I give you to use.
