Cosmetology Learning Module 4 – 12’

Communicating for Success

Upon completion of this Cosmetology Learning Module, the student will be able to list the golden rules of human relations; explain the definition of effective communication; conduct a successful client consultation/needs assessment; handle an unhappy client; and build open lines of communication with coworkers, with 95% accuracy, using the time necessary for the individual student’s own learning pace and the materials listed below. A test will be given upon completion of this module.

Must complete one (1) of the following projects:

Design an employee poster, for the break room in your salon, on non-verbal communication. It must be completed on the computer with color and easy to read font.

Design a training booklet, to be used in your salon, concerning client communication. It must have at least 6 scenarios, and questions about each of the scenarios for the “employee” to answer. An answer key must be provided to the teacher with the training booklet. It must be typed.

14.

Design and record a training video on either designer/client communication skills or conflict resolution between co-workers. The recording must be video tape, camcorder, or phone (something that can be shown on a computer). It must be at least 10 – 15 minutes in length. It can be done alone or in a group,

(of no more than 4) with an explanation of every member's contributions. A copy of the story board must be turned in.

Write a research paper on Professional Ethics, Professionalism and Effective

Communication. Include why these three (3) aspects of working are so

designer, and why as a student you must start practicing these things now,

today. The paper must be no less than three (3) pages in length, double

spaced, and typed or printed (not cursive) neatly. At least three (3)

resources must be utilized and a list if those resources attached using Citation

Machine for formatting.
