Pupils in Years 1-4/5 will present their Christmas show on Wednesday 14th December at 10.00am. We hope to see as many parents and friends as possible at this event, which is always a wonderful experience. The doors open at 9.35am, with car parking available in the school playground from 9.35am. You may take your child home after their performance. If you would like a photograph of your child in costume, please use the pre-order form enclosed with this newsletter. Opera House Visit Jack and the Beanstalk We travel to the Opera House on Friday 16th December and pupils will meet at the Harbour Car Park at 12.45pm. There is no morning school on Friday. We will leave for Belfast using three coaches and will return to the Harbour car park at approximately 4.15pm. You should arrange to meet your child off the coach at this time. Each coach will be numbered 1 and 2. Please leave and collect your child from the appropriate coach- Coach 1 Mrs Blair’s class, Mrs Leathem’s class and Ms Chambers’ girls. Coach 2 Ms Chambers’ boys, Miss Hagan’s class and Miss Houston’s class. Opera House Snack Pack Rather than have our pupils try to buy tuck at the interval of Jack and the Beanstalk, I am asking that you provide your child with three items of tuck that they can put into a coat pocket. No carrier bags please. This should include a non fizzy drink and some snacks. No food will be allowed to be eaten on the bus or before the interval. All pupils should have their lunch before leaving home. No other sweets or money will be needed at the Opera House. PTA Support The PTA has generously agreed to help support the cost of transport to the Opera House. This has helped enormously to reduce the overall cost of the pantomime to each family in school. Gifts for Staff Each year parents very kindly choose to buy a gift for staff. Although this is very generous and gifts are gratefully received, we recognise that the additional financial and organisational burden of buying gifts can be a problem. Last year we introduced the idea of supporting a local charity 1 in 3 cancer support, which benefited from parents donating a monetary gift in their child’s teacher’s name. We plan to repeat this alternate Christmas Present idea this year and if you wish, we would encourage you to support it. Thank you. Exceptional School Closures If the school has to close at short notice due to bad weather or some other exceptional circumstance, you will be notified by text or phone as soon as a decision is reached. It is essential that you keep us informed about changes to telephone numbers. A web site www.nidirect.gov.uk/schoolclosures will provide further general details of closures. Principal: G.A.
