Mastery Objectives for the Unit:




The student will see, listen and read various forms of media that utilizes the
target language and reflect the target culture.
The student will compare and contrast structural patterns in the target language
and his/her own language.
The student will examine the characteristics and traditions of Latino families and
compare them with the traditions and characteristics of families in the US.
The student will be able to recall grammatical structures learned in the unit
(reflexives, imperfect subjunctive, the perfect tense) and write compositions using
vocabulary of the family.

 Students will be able to listen to instructions and complete the listening activities
from the program.
 Individually students will be able to read sentences and complete them with por
and para depending on the context
 Students will be able to create their own sentences using por and para and the
vocabulary of the unit.
Homework:
El viaje reading: Complete the reading using por and para
Warm-up: (10 minutes) Ask students to take their workbooks and do the listening activities on page
119. (Activities 1, 2 and 3)

Mini Lesson: Uses of Por and Para
Present to the students the power point
Ask them the comprehension questions to see if
they understood the story and the concept of
por and para
Grammar Practice: Give the students a
worksheet to practice individually the concepts
of por and para. When they are finished ask
them to work with their partner and compare
the answers. Review the answers with the
whole class.
Go back to the power point to the DIET PEPSI
slide and ask students to write one creative
sentence using the letters of DIET PEPSI
