How much will my kitchen renovation cost?
It’s difficult to give an estimate without seeing the space and going through your needs and desires. There is no standard
base model from which to assess kitchen prices.
Kitchens vary in price due to the different materials selected, design complexity, features and fixtures, bench-top and
splash-back materials, appliances and trade components.
Be assured that we will work with you to unsure the highest quality cabinetry for your allocated budget and you will be
getting the BEST VALUE for your hard earned dollar by dealing with Flair Cabinets.
Kitchens are becoming to be the epicenter of the home , one of the most important and frequently used areas.
How does FLAIR pricing compare to other kitchen companies ?
As a company with large purchasing volumes of quality materials we generally have lower material costs than our
competitors which means you can have more of what you want with us. The factory operates very efficiently with an
extremely low rejection rate utilizing fully trained trades personnel , production costs are lower than our competitors , we
can concentrate on delivering better service and better value kitchens to our clients.
We are EXTREMELY COMPETITIVE.
The price of your kitchen is directly related to the size and complexity.
What’s the best way to keep costs down so I don’t blow my budget ?
There are many and varied ways and these include:
( Our Sales team will work with you to design a kitchen to suit your budget )
don't complicate the job - keep it simple. More details = greater expense;
keep to a standard selection of materials & appliances;
Keeping costs down - Can I do some of the work myself ?
We are sometimes asked by clients if they can perform some of the work themselves to save money. Of course, any work
that is not structural or required to be performed by licensed tradesmen such as plumbing and electrical work you are
welcome to do yourself. Typically this would be restricted to demolition and painting.
To gain the maximum protection and confidence afforded by our comprehensive warranties and guarantees, it is
advisable to trust Flair Cabinets for the complete job.
Quite often where people perform their own work thinking they are saving money, longer term it can cost more if there is
a problem.
Do you organize other trades?
YES , we are more than happy to organize and project manage other trades for you ( plumber , electrician , plasterer ,
painter ). However, it is also okay for you to organize your own trades if you prefer. If you organize trades please give us
their name and contact details so that our production manager can contact them with scheduling details.

Cabinet Carcass
Our carcasses are constructed from Australian made 16mm moisture resistant
( MR ) particle board faced both sides with white melamine.
What are end panels?
End panels are used to dress the seen face of a cabinet carcass.
You will see exposed screws in the ends of each carcass. An end panel will conceal these.
An end panel is also required where you change from a tall cabinet to a base or wall cabinet, to provide a neat end due to
the change in depths.
Cabinet making acronyms and commonly used materials
H.M.R. Particle Board
High Moisture Resistant Particle Board . Particle board manufactured using compressed wood
particles and water resistant glue. This board is used for the manufacture of:
Substrates for granite bench-tops, typically 16mm - 18mm HMR
Substrates for post formed bench-tops, typically 32mm HMR
Substrates for kicker assemblies
Moisture resistant particleboard is also known as aquaboard.
H.M.R. Melamine
H.M.R. Melamine is 16mm or 18mm thick HMR particle board coated with a chemically fused
and sealed paper coating on both sides. The coating can also have a texture pressed into it. The
textured finish is referred to as a "stipple" finish. This particular board is used to manufacture
the cabinets (carcasses).
M.D.F. and M.R.
(Medium Density Fiber) Board (Moisture Resistant) is made of very fine compressed wood
fibers and comes in several varieties:
Raw MDF MR, is used for capping mould. (Capping mould are the up-stands between
overheads, pantries and wall-ovens and ceilings.)
- Colored MDF MR, is raw MDF coated with a thin colored melamine surface on both sides
and is used for cabinet doors, end panels and kick plates. (Vertical Applications only)
- Grained MDF MR – is raw MDF coated with a thin melamine surface on both sides and is
used for cabinet doors, end panels and kick-plates. (Vertical Applications only) In this case
the top layer of the melamine is actually a photograph of timber grain.
- 19mm Veneered MDF MR, is 18mm raw MDF coated with a thin layer of natural timber
veneer (NTV) on both sides. Components made with this material are then polished in the
same way as if they had been manufactured using solid timber.
- E0 MDF is a low formaldehyde emitting MDF product that has a formaldehyde emission of
less than 0.5mg/L, which is lower than the current Australian standard.
Note:
Melamine
Moisture resistant board is particleboard / fiberboard bonded with water resistant
glue. Prolonged exposure to water penetration will have a detrimental effect on the
structural integrity of the board and resulting in swelling.
Also known as low-pressure laminate is what is commonly referred to as melamine , a highly
durable type of thermosetting plastic - attached to a particleboard. We use E0 particleboard
due to its low formaldehyde emissions.
Melamine material is most suited to the manufacturing of office furniture and kitchen doors
and panels. It is highly durable, extremely cost effective and an excellent surface to work on.
Laminate
High pressure decorative laminate (HPDL). All HPDL products are manufactured in a similar way, from
layers of paper saturated with melamine and bound together with phenolic resins. Only the top layer is
the decorative layer. This technique has remained largely constant for over half a century, simply
because it works so well and even modern technology has not come up with anything better for a
hard-wearing, low cost benchtop or splash back. Laminex – Formica – Wilsonart – Polytec are some of
the well known manufacturers of laminate.
2 Pack Paint
2-pack paint consists of two parts; a base and a curing agent. The two parts when mixed set up chemical
reactions to bring about the drying and hardening of the paint.
2-pack paint comes in just about any color and a wide variety of gloss levels and is used for the exterior
components of cabinets. (Vertical Applications only)
Engineered Stone
A composite material made up of crushed granite / quartz held together with a binder.
Used for kitchen benchtops
Granite Transformations engineered stone tops are 6.5mm thick , 93% stone and 7% polyester
binder. Other brands of engineered stone have only 61% stone , the other 39% is glue/binder.

What type of benchtops are available ( suitable for kitchens , laundries , bathrooms ) ?
The most common types ( with price indication ) are outlined below:

Laminate ( $ ) – the most traditional and common of all benchtops. It is an economical alternative and is made
up of a laminate sheet glued to a 33mm MR substrate. It does not have the durability of stone but it is highly
versatile in that it is available in a wide range of colors, finishes and textures.

6.5mm Engineered Stone ( $$$ ) - Granite Transformations is durable , scratch and chip resistant. You are able
to place hot items directly on the benchtop as well as use the benchtop itself for food preparation, however we
recommend to use a trivet for hot pots and a cutting board for food preparation. It is non - porous, and does not
need to be sealed regularly. Is moderately expensive , has 10 year limited guarantee. Contains 93% quartz /
granite and 7% polyester binder. Can achieve 40mm to 80mm edge build downs with no visible joins.

Stainless Steel ( $$$ ) - Stainless steel benchtops are easy to clean, can withstand hot pans; can be worked to
create integral sinks and draining boards. However shows scratches, dents and fingerprints; expensive; can be
noisy; can’t use abrasive cleaners.

Solid surface ( $$$$ )
Solid-surface benchtops are made of a solid plastic block, so the colour and pattern are
consistent throughout. One of the best known is Corian by Du Pont, which can be made to appear like marble or
granite. It is resistant to staining , has no visible joins; hygienic; moderate range of colours . It is not heat or
scratch-resistant; uniform appearance not for everyone;

20mm Engineered Stone ( $$$$ ) - Relatively durable , scratch and chip resistant. Can place hot items directly
on the benchtop as well as use the benchtop itself for food preparation, however we recommend to use a trivet
for hot pots and a cutting board for food preparation. It is relatively non - porous. Is expensive , has 10 year
limited guarantee. Contains from 61% to 93% quartz / granite and 7% to 39% glue binder.

Granite ( $$$$ ) – Durable and is scratch and chip resistant. You are able to place hot items directly on the
benchtop as well as use the benchtop itself for food preparation. However, because granite is porous, it will need
to be sealed regularly, usually around once a year. Is very expensive , has no guarantee.

Marble ( $$$$ ) – has many of the same qualities as granite and because it is such a smooth surface, it is
favoured for the preparation of dough and pastries. However, because it is so porous, it will require sealants to
be applied more often than granite does. Stains.

Timber ( $$$$ ) – commonly known as a “butcher block” or laminated timber tops, these benchtops are made
from timber pieces that have been stacked and glued together. Timber benchtops are generally between 33mm
to 60mm thick , common timbers are Tas oak , blackwood , maple , jarrah , redgum.
I am interested in having stone bench tops in my kitchen, can you organize this for me as well?
YES , Flair Cabinets is the authorized Granite Transformations outlet for the NE region . We have an excellent range of
engineered stone colors on display. You are more than welcome to call in to the showroom to see them and choose the
benchtop that suits your new modern kitchen. We have samples of Granite Transformation which you can take home to
match your existing colour scheme.
What is a splashback ?
Splashbacks are a stylish, yet essential addition to your home. Splashbacks are a wall feature that is designed to both look
good and serve a purpose. Splashbacks are used in areas where water is found – such as the kitchen, bathroom, and
laundry, and they protect the wall underneath from water damage. They are also found near the stove. Splashbacks also
make the surface easier to clean, an invaluable function in the kitchen where food and grease / oil splatters are an
everyday fact of life.
Splashbacks are anywhere from 200mm to 650mm high usually, and they are as long as required. Whatever material you
choose for your splashback, you should ensure that there is at least 200mm clearance between the splashback and the
nearest stove burner or hotplate. If the distance is less, ensure that the splashback material is non-combustible. The
joints in the splashback need to be sealed.
It is a sheet of 6mm toughened glass that is cut to the required shape. It is then painted with a special paint which is
applied. Regulations require a piece of fire resistant material to be placed behind a gas hotplate which is set into the

plaster or cement sheet. There are 2 types of glass, plain glass which is cheaper and contains a lot of iron which can
distort the color over time and there is starfire glass which contains less iron and maintains the chosen color much better
over time.
Flair Cabinets specifies STARFIRE glass splashbacks , all painting is done in house by our painting trades personnel.
We use the highest quality toughened glass from VIRIDIAN and specialized glass paint from EVIC.
What types of splashback do you offer ?
There are some things that you will need to consider when you are choosing a splashback. Firstly consider your budget,
as some materials are markedly more expensive than others. Think about the style of your home – there is no point using
a contemporary material if the rest of the room or home has a country feel. If the splashback is to be installed in the
kitchen, ensure that it can stand up to the pressures of heat, food splatters, and stains.
A splashback is a long-term addition to your home so you want to be careful when choosing the color. Be aware that the
color will date your splashback, so it may be best to choose a neutral color that can be jazzed up with accessories.
Natural, earthy colors are also extremely popular.
Splashback Materials
There are several different materials that can be used for splashbacks. These include:
Glass
glass is becoming one of the most popular materials for splashbacks and for good reason. It is
($$$$)
stylish, an almost infinite range of colors, very hygienic, as there minimal joins for mould to
Grow in. Very easy to clean and maintain.
Mirror
( $$$$ )
Similar to a glass splash back. Can really open up a small space.
Granite Transformations stone
( $$$$ )
is an excellent product that is very durable and looks fantastic, it is expensive.
Easy to clean, low maintenance.
Acrylic
( $$$$ )
acrylic splashbacks are available in a moderate range of colors and are quite versatile and
durable. Limited application , cannot be used behind open flame gas cooktops.
Stainless steel
( $$$ )
creates a contemporary modern look in the kitchen, brushed stainless steel is the most popular
option. Brushed steel shows up marks less easily than the traditional reflective steel . Stainless
steel splashbacks cost less than you might expect but you need to clean them using a special
stainless steel cleaner, slightly higher in maintenance than other types of splashbacks.
Tiles
($)
the most common choice for splashbacks , tiles come in a large range of colors, types, and
styles. Tiles that can be used for splashbacks include ceramic, mosaic, glass, and recycled
glass.
Laminate
($)
cost effective option for splashbacks, can reproduce a wide range of looks, from solid colors to
imitation granite and marble finishes .Limited application , cannot be used behind open flame
gas cooktops.
What about appliances?
No problems , Flair Cabinets has great relationships with manufacturers and suppliers of Australia’s favorite brands
including Baumatic , IAG , Lofra and Schweigen
CAUTION - DON’T PURCHASE YOUR APPLIANCES UNTIL YOU HAVE CONFIRMED YOUR KITCHEN PLANS. Once you have
finalized your plans we can advise on any regulations which apply to appliances you select, e.g. the size and position of
your rangehood relative to your gas cooktop , refrigerator opening spaces etc
When do I need to provide you with the details of my appliances?
As early as possible !!
You are required to supply your designer with supplier and model numbers of all of your appliances, including existing
ones, prior to our check measurer visiting site.
Sinks & tubs and vanity basins , oven , microwave , cooktop , dishwasher , refrigerator
TV and audio units , home office equipment ( if AV cabinets and home office cupboards are ordered )
This will ensure that all cabinetry is designed and manufactured correctly to allow for the appliances you have chosen.
Until we have all of these appliance details, your kitchen / cabinets design cannot progress. Your install date will be
delayed !!
Can I purchase and supply my own appliances from a retailer such as Harvey Norman ?
Yes of course, we are more than happy to design and custom build a kitchen to suit any appliance specification.
You must supply your consultant / designer with supplier and model numbers of all of your appliances
The edges of my old doors and panels are all chipped. Will yours do the same?
Over the years many kitchen manufacturers have used 0.4mm melamine edge tape on doors, carcasses and shelving
which was most often ironed on. In fact there are still companies today who continue to follow this application. Edge tape

can become brittle and chip and crack over time creating a tired and worn look to the inside of your cabinets or cabinet
doors. At Flair Cabinets, we use the latest technology in applying a 1mm PVC / ABS tough edge to all edges of our cabinets
and panels. These edges do not chip or peel and we apply it via a ’top of the range’ German Brandt edge banding machine
in a climate controlled environment, ensuring longevity and the absolute best results
My friend’s vinyl wrap (thermo laminate) doors have peeled back. Why is this?
There has been some improvement in the quality of vinyl wrap doors in recent years due to a number of advances in
thermo laminate sheet , glue quality, types of glues and their associated applications. However , vinyl wrap doors are still
affected by heat.
Flair Cabinets recommend 2 pac painted doors and panels , these are less prone to heat damage.
STEPS IN THE DESIGN , MANUFACTURE AND INSTALLATION OF A KITCHEN
Who actually designs my renovated kitchen?
An experienced sales / design consultant will visit your home, measuring and designing to bring your ideas for a fresh and
fabulous kitchen to fruition.
You will have some ideas on your new kitchen , the Flair Sales Consultant will take all of your requests into consideration
when designing your new kitchen.
The Flair sales consultant then creates the design with our computer aided drawing department using state of the art
kitchen design software.
The software enables us to maximize the utility space in your dream kitchen and to generate 3D images so that you can
see what your new kitchen will look like.
What if I am building a new house and need a kitchen ?
Flair Cabinets has happy and longstanding partnerships with many local builders.
As your centre of kitchen excellence, we will work in with your builder to build your dream kitchen.
All you need to do is contact Flair , arrange an appointment with one of our Sales Consultants , don’t forget to bring the
house plans with you and details of appliances and material finishes ( if you have them ).
What are the design trends for new kitchens ?
Each year the trends change , however some current kitchen design trends are as follows :Open plan living
The integration of kitchens with living spaces to further facilitate social interaction as well as deal with decreasing living
spaces is a continuing trend. In it, spaces can be transformed depending on how they are used, and functional
components can be hidden when they are not required.
If you have the floor space an island bench is truly visually stunning and practical.
Soft close drawers and no handles
Handles are almost entirely absent in modern kitchens. If they are there, they consist of flatly angled grips, perfectly
integrated with the base material.
Soft close drawers and doors are gaining popularity every year , no more loud “ clunks “ as you close your doors and
drawers .
Natural Colors
Most exhibits at EuroCucina this year used the same color palette with variations of white, beige, brown and black. The
tones are warm.
There is an increase of black, however, and white as a base color is still more commonly seen, though white would be
mixed with other materials and rarely used by itself. The all white kitchen is out.
Often, darker tones are used inside lighter cabinets or sometimes that other way around. More importantly, the use of
multiple material, colors and texture experiences is coming through everywhere.
Scandinavian Design
Designs will move away from glossy, white reflective cabinetry to kitchens with depth, texture and variety. We will see a
Scandinavian design influence and a move towards better designed cabinetry
Natural finishes and materials (such as timber veneers) mixing with flat finished polyurethane and stainless steel.
Not just the cabinets
Flooring, lighting and ceiling design will become an integral part of the new kitchen. Look for textural and rich kitchens,
incorporating the whole kitchen space rather than only the cabinetry. Subtle and subdued surfaces and finishes will
create the sleek and desired kitchen trend for 2015.
Lighting
Low energy LED kitchen lighting solutions !!
Choosing kitchen lighting is one of the most important parts of kitchen design. There are three different kinds of lighting
you need to consider:

1. General lighting
illuminates the whole room. In most rooms, this is the overhead lighting. It can be a hanging light
or recessed lighting, but consider your ceiling lights to be only the first lighting you need in your kitchen.
2. Task lighting
is lighting that is designed for special purposes. In the kitchen, lights mounted under your upper
cabinets and over the stove make working in the kitchen easier, more enjoyable and less tiring. They also lift the
appearance of the room.
3.
Mood or accent lighting
is going to make or break your kitchen. Create a visually dramatic kitchen.

The underlying theme at Eurocucina 2014 was contrast, with a combination of styles and textures proving popular.
1. Lighting, lighting, lighting! Task lighting, ambient light and mood lighting inside and outside cabinets.
2. Flush and non-intrusive handles.
3. Large pullout drawers replace cupboards for storage with lighting that comes on automatically when opened.
4. Cabinetry displayed in neutral colours and wood grains.
5. Matt surfaces in stainless steel, glass, laminate and faux stone.
6. Open shelving.
7. Muted cool tones and natural colours like grey, beige and white lend themselves to a modern, sleek kitchen while still
creating an atmosphere of warmth.
8. The ubiquitous timber and veneer work well with warm splashes of colour.
9. Natural elements play a big part in kitchen design with textured stone and open shelves a common trend.
10. Appliances are either gloss white or black, a change from stainless steel.

Certainly ! , Using our up-to-date technology CAD kitchen design software, Flair Cabinets has the ability to show you your
fully designed kitchen via 3D Modeling.
What are your lead-times ( time to design , build and install the kitchen ) ?
This is totally dependant on the finish and complexity of your kitchen . Generally a medium size kitchen can be installed
into your home approximately 25 working days from the Check measure.
A large complex kitchen will take more time.
Once the plans are complete , specifications completed and the contracts are signed, manufacturing of your dream

How long will I be without a kitchen?
It does depend on the project, we’re quick, flexible and able to accommodate exceptions easily. We will always agree the
‘kitchen downtime’ with you before starting work, although most kitchens are completely installed in a day.
If it is a kitchen renovation and your old kitchen needs to be removed this is done usually 1 to 2 days before the new
kitchen is installed.
Will we have to move out of our home while the kitchen renovation is being done?
NO , The majority of our clients continue to live in their property while the kitchen is being renovated. We work with you
and around you, making sure the renovation takes place at a convenient time for you! We also can renovate your kitchen
while you go on holidays, we have done this many times with our clients feeling 100% comfortable leaving their keys with
us to have a beautifully renovated kitchen ready upon their return.
It’s when services like plumbing or power need to be disconnected that make it difficult to stay in the house.
Wherever it is safe and practical, staying in your home during renovation is obviously the preference.
Will there be a mess in my home while the kitchen installation is being done?
Many people have concerns about the amount of mess they will have to live with during any renovations.
There will always be an amount of dust and woodchips generated whilst your new kitchen is being installed , however
Flair Cabinets ensure that your home is respected and kept as homely as possible during any renovation work.
Any mess ( inside and outside of cabinets and drawers ) made will be cleaned up daily before we leave, drop sheets will be
used to protect your floors ( if required ) .
Are you always on time for kitchen installations?
We aim to be on time every time. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we may have to postpone a job by one or two days.
If this does happen, we will give you plenty of notice. We will also try to minimize the inconvenience to you as much as
possible.
What is a check measure?
Accurate measurements of the room where the kitchen is to be installed is absolutely vital to your perfect fitting kitchen.
A check measure is scheduled once you have confirmed your kitchen order and includes :- Accurate room dimensions ( L x W x ceiling height )
- Locations of plumbing outlets
- Locations of windows and doors
- Checking if the floor is level
- Checking if the walls are plumb and straight
- Access information for trades personnel

MAINTENANCE and CLEANING A KITCHEN
How do I clean my new kitchen ?
KEY POINT :
-
-
-
-
-
Clean regularly , kitchens can be are a breeding ground for all kinds of nasty mould and bacteria, and
keeping your surface areas and kitchen cabinets clean will ensure a hygienic food preparation area.
DON’T USE abrasive pads or steel wool on your kitchen panels , you will end up with surface scuff marks
DON’T USE abrasive cleaning chemicals
DON’T USE highly acidic chemicals or highly caustic chemicals such as drain cleaner
DO USE
a soft cloth and warm soapy water , this will remove the majority of marks , Windex is also useful.
Stubborn stains : Baking soda is suitable for removing most common household stains from cabinet surfaces.
Use two or three tablespoons of baking soda per cup of warm water and gently remove grease and stubborn
splatters with a sponge. Afterwards, rinse down with cold water and dab with a paper towel. Alternatively, use a
combination of equal parts vinegar and warm water .
Clean spills and liquids immediately , especially beetroot juice and red wine
Do not leave newspapers and other printed media on cabinet surfaces, there is the possibility the ink may seep
into the surface finishing and in time, leave unattractive (and stubborn) marks.
Metal inserts and joinery can be cleaned using mild soap and water. Most of the metal parts found on
contemporary kitchen cabinets are manufactured with a coating that protects against corrosion and abrasion
and cleaning the joinery with harsh chemicals will strip it of this protective layer.
Avoid sliding objects across surfaces, pick it up and minimize the risk of scratching.
Avoid placing extremely hot frying pans and saucepans directly onto a laminate benchtop , or stone benchtop.
It is recommended that these very hot items are placed onto a cutting board or similar protective barrier.
Stone Tops : Stone benchtops can be permanently damaged by exposure to strong chemicals and solvents that
undermine its physical properties. Do not use products that contain trichlorethane or methylene
chloride, such as paint removers or stripper. Avoid any highly aggressive cleaning agents like oven
cleaner that have high alkaline/pH levels. Should the surface be accidentally exposed to any of these
damaging products, rinse immediately with water to neutralize the effect.
Cleaning cabinet hardware: Brass and Silver cleaners are not recommended for cleaning handles. Some of these
Cleaning solutions contain harsh chemicals that may damage the finish on your
handles. Wipe your hardware with a solution of warm water and a small amount of
mild dishwashing detergent. Hinges can be cleaned with a dry cloth or cotton bud
Cleaning glass insert doors: If there are glass inserts in your cabinets doors, they may be cleaned with window
Cleaner such as Windex . Spray the cleaner on a clean cloth and wipe the glass clean.
Never spray window cleaner directly on the door. Over spray of glass cleaner may
Occur and damage the finish on the surrounding surfaces. If you get some of the
cleaner on the surrounding surfaces, wipe off immediately.
Will you come back if something isn’t right ?
YES , We are very proud of our long track record in the building industry. We are also very proud to say that we have very
few call backs to our kitchens or bathrooms. If you do have a problem and something isn’t right, just let us know and we
will get it sorted out for you. We have a fulltime kitchen maintenance trades person.

chemical products, improper maintenance, normal ‘wear and tear’, scratches, scuffs, burns, stains, wipe marks on
darker color surfaces, pest infestations will be charged.
My timber panels have faded in color in the past 3 years , is that normal ?
YES , Solid timber panels and veneer panels contain natural timber. This means they will react to various environmental
conditions, such as direct and indirect light, as well as heat and humidity. A change in surface color and appearance, over
time, is therefore considered normal and not a defect. We recommend that all timber panels , timber benchtops , timber
veneer panels be used within closed buildings where they will not be exposed to constant direct sunlight and moisture.
Flair cabinets coat timber panels and veneer panels with 2 pac polyurethane containing a UV ( ultra violet ) inhibiting
agent.
My Tasmanian blackwood timber doors don’t look the same as the doors in your showroom ?
Solid timber panels and veneer panels contain natural variations in grain, colour and texture . These variations are
considered a characteristic of natural timber and are not recognised as a defect. No two timber doors or panels will ever
be identical. If you require doors and panels which look exactly the same please do not consider timber.
wide variation timbers ( colour and grain ) include Tasmanian Blackwood , walnut , sassafras , American cherry
even variation timbers include Vic ash , Tas oak , European beech , jarrah

What’s difference between a Flair Cabinets Custom Flat Pack and a “ BIG DIY STORE “ Flat Pack ?
The difference between these is often very noticeable, particularly if you are a discerning person who values the
importance of symmetry and custom design. In other words you like things to have a balanced look such as cabinets and
doors lining up without excessive filler pieces inserted to achieve alignment. You probably won’t be happy with a kit type
kitchen which hasn’t been made to specific size requirements, to suit your exact home.
Also Flair custom made kitchens always provides more choices in the finishes and colors that you can have, or your
selection of fittings and styles of cabinetry heights width and depths and benchtop types.

How long does it take my order to be ready?
Our goal is to have your order ready within 25 working days from the day we receive your order and deposit.
Do you provide an installation service ?
The Flair flatpack pricing has the installation component deleted , if you require your flatpack kitchen to be installed by
Flair Cabinets there would be an additional installation charge.
How difficult is the process for people with no experience?
Generally, people who are installing their own kitchens should have a basic understanding of how a kitchen should be put
together. You should be capable of using tools such as a power drill, a level, a tape measure, hammer, rubber mallet and a
jigsaw (for sink cut-outs) to install your kitchen.
At Flair Cabinets we offer the option of true flatpack cabinets or pre-assembled (at no extra cost) so to take some of the
time and hassle out, you can always go for the pre-assembled option. Should you opt for flatpack cabinets we provide a
step-by-step “Cabinet Assembly Construction and Installation Guide” booklet to assist you.
If you think that the installation process a little too daunting for you, please consider Flair Cabinets to handle all your
needs. We offer a full design , manufacture & installation service , we can cater for every budget.
How long does it take to assemble your Custom Flatpack cabinets?
Assembly time is minimal as we assemble your cabinets ( free of charge ) here at Flair Cabinets. However if you did
assemble a flatpack cabinet from flat pre cut sheets the first cabinet will probably take you about half an hour, while you
become familiar with the assembly system. After that, a typical base cabinet should only take about 20 minutes, and a
drawer cabinet around 30 to 40 minutes for total assembly. Tall cabinets such as a pantry will take a little longer.
I'm stuck installing my kitchen cabinets , can you help me?
YES of course , If you get stuck on something, all you have to do is call us and well will talk you through the issue. All of our
confirmed customers receive priority after-sales telephone support. Our job is to make your job easier.
What tools do I need for assembly?
As a minimum, you will need a cordless screwdriver, spirit level to level off your cabinets on the floor, and possibly a
rubber mallet to gently tap your cabinets and hinges together.
To trim the kickboards and end panels to the correct size for your existing walls and floors, you will need a jigsaw or
circular saw.
To cut the hole for your sink into the laminate benchtops, you will need a drill and a jigsaw.
A Phillips head screwdriver is easier to use when it comes to the final door and drawer adjustments.
I want a custom designed Flair Cabinets flatpack. What is the ordering process?
Step 1
Step 2
Step 3
Send us your design and specifications, either by email or fax or bring them to our showroom. We will

this is received and cleared, we will then provide a shop drawing to clarify your final design, which is
then refined as necessary.
We will schedule an exact check measure of your kitchen by the Flair check measure tradesman
- We must know to the millimeter exact dimensions of your room , cabinets , windows etc
- It is better to measure twice and build / install once
- We will also measure your walls , floor to ensure they are plumb and level
- We will measure your ceiling height and locations of electrical and plumbing outlets
Quotes generally won't change, unless of course you discover that you have forgotten an extra 3 meters of wall, or you
choose a higher priced material or hardware system.
