Assessment Timeline Elementary Education Associate of Arts Program Spring 2002 In March 2002, we reviewed existing mission, goals, courses, and assessment activities at the course and program levels. Fall 2002 Conceptual framework was reviewed and focus group interviews gathered data which was reviewed by AA Program Coordinators. Spring 2004 Reviewed existing courses and assessment activities at the course and program levels. Fall 2004 Confirmed mission, goals, and objectives. Identified how these are taught in each course and designed a matrix. Created the assessment rubric to be used on student product(s) generated in an EDU course. Spring 2005 Piloted program assessment of Program Goal/Outcomes 1 and 2 (student learning) by evaluating written work from EDU 111 (three courses) using the assessment rubric. Pre- and postassessments were done. Initially, two instructors evaluated student work independently and then met with gathered data, organized and critiqued their assessment of student data, and reported to the College Assessment Committee and CDTE faculty. Strengths and weaknesses were identified and discussed. Changes to the assessment process were noted for Fall 2005. In addition to piloting EDU 111, the instructor in EDU 238 assessed student learning for outcomes as identified for EDU 238 on the matrix. To address Program Goal/Outcomes 3 (course appropriateness), research was done to confirm that course transferrability is up-to-date and posted on our website for student and instructor access. In the Spring Retreat there was discussion regarding the design of the program and choice of the current five courses. Began discussion for program assessment of Early Childhood Education by reviewing mission, and clarifying goals and outcomes.
