PICTURE PUZZLE PIECE
BROKEN BRONZE BRACELET
One picture puzzle piece
One broken bronze bracelet
Lyin’ on the sidewalk,
Lyin’ on the grass,
One picture puzzle piece
One broken bronze bracelet
Soakin’ in the rain.
Soakin’ in the sun.
It might be a button of blue
It might be some type of beauty
On the coat of the woman
On the wrist of a woman
Who lived in a shoe.
Who worked on duty.
It might be a magical bean,
It might be something very old,
Or a fold in the red
Or kept in a pocket
Velvet robe of a queen.
Soon to be covered in mold.
It might be the one little bite
It might be the one chance
Of the apple her stepmother
Of a lonely man
Gave to Snow White.
To find romance.
It might be the veil of a bride
It might belong to a king or queen
Or a bottle with some evil genie inside.
Or someone who may be very mean.
It might be a small tuft of hair
It might be a small token of luck
On the big bouncy belly
On the very tiny wrist
Of Bobo the Bear.
Of Mrs. Muck.
It might be a bit of the cloak
It might be from an older time
Of the Witch of the West
Of the eighteenth century
As she melted to smoke.
As now it’s covered in grime.
It might be a shadowy trace
It might be worth the money
Of a tear that runs down an angel’s face.
Of a man buying it for his honey.
Nothing has more possibilities
Nothing has more possibilities
Than one old wet picture puzzle piece.
Than one broken bronze bracelet.
