Ask the students to make the o sound while they are wiggling their fingers. Task Tell the students that it is 8:00 a.m. on Monday morning. Ask the students where Ollie is going. Elicit answers and explain that he is going to school. Ask the students to help Ollie put things into his school bag. Elicit the school objects. Accept all reasonable answers. If the students say an object corresponding to one of the picture flashcards, put it on the board. Point to the flashcard and ask ‘What is it?’ The students respond and the teacher puts the other coloured flashcard on the board. Repeat until all of the flashcards are on the board. Ask the students how many pencils they can see on the board. Tell the students that Ollie can only take one pencil. Ask the students to do the octopus action and make the o sound. Ask a student to come up to the board and choose a pencil for Ollie. If it is the orange pencil, put it in the bag. Tell the students Ollie likes orange pencils. If the pencil is not orange tell the students that Ollie only likes orange pencils. Repeat with other objects and different students. When a student chooses the right object, the rest of the class says, ‘Yes, Ollie likes orange ___.’ If the wrong coloured object is chosen, the students can say, ‘No, Ollie doesn’t like ( colour ) ( object ).’ Lesson O 26 You can draw the letter on the board slowly and encourage the students to guess which letter it is.
