(1)
Condemns the Federal Government’s proposals to downgrade rural and regional
universities;
(2)
Expresses concern about their potential impact on rural and regional communities across
New South Wales; and
(3)
Calls on the Federal Government to adequately fund the higher education sector rather
than increase the financial burden on students, universities or State Governments.
Upon which Mr O’Farrell moved, That the motion be amended as follows:
(1)
Paragraph (1). Leave out the words “Federal” and “rural and regional universities” with a
view to inserting instead “State” and “inner city schools”.
(2)
Paragraph (2). Leave out the words “rural and regional” and “across” with a view to
