Periodicity Chemistry Project
Chemistry is the study of matter. The simplest form of matter is an
element. There are 118 elements identified at this time. The elements are
arranged in groups and periods on the Periodic Table.
In this project you will choose a group (column) on the Periodic Table to research.
The representation of your project will be a brochure of 6 sides (preferably computer
generated, but not mandatory). The basic criteria and rubric follow.
The brochure should include the following: **See rubric for specifics**
Information about the elements that make up that group – who discovered,
when discovered, basic properties, typical compounds formed, where it is
found, where/what it is used for
Trends within the group and how they compare to the rest of the periodic table
A graph, table, or chart that features one of the trends or properties of the
elements found in your area
Picture of the elements – elemental form, raw material form, or where it is
used
Cartoon, comic strip, rhyme, poem, or song that features an element from your
area – may be original or copied
