American History – Chapter 15 and 16: World War II At the end of this chapter, students should understand: The causes of World War II How Hitler and the Nazis manipulated their way into power in Germany, and how they quickly conquered other nations Who was involved in World War II, and why each country entered the conflict The United States’ early opinion on the war and how and why the country entered the conflict How the United States operated before and during the war How World War II unfolded, and how the Allies won How the Holocaust unfolded in Germany and its occupied nations Grading for the chapter will be based on the following: Chapter 15/16 Test 200 Points Chapter 15/16 Section Review #1 10 Points Chapter 15/16 Section Review #2 10 Points Chapter 15/16 Section Review #3 10 Points Chapter 15/16 Study Guide 25 Points Chapter 15/16 Quiz 1 10 Points Chapter 15/16 Quiz 2 10 Points Participation 25 Points Notes will NOT be collected for Chapters 15 and 16. Instead, observed note taking, class participation and in-class behavior will determine the “Participation” portion of the grade. Notes will not be given out unless you have an excused absence from class or are in ISSC. Notes must be asked for. No assignments will be accepted after the due date. Assignments are due at the beginning of class, not the end, unless otherwise noted. Any assignments turned in after the due date will find their way into the recycling bin unless an excused absence is presented immediately. If you are in ISSC, turn in the assignment at the beginning of the next class you attend, or it will not be accepted – I will NOT ask you for it, it is up to YOU to remember it. Suspension is not an excused absence and assignments will be accepted at my discretion.
