General Company Info (from Hoovers.com)
One of the world's largest consulting firms, Deloitte Consulting serves customers in industries such as
aviation, consumer products and services, energy, financial services, health care, manufacturing, and
technology, as well as government agencies. The firm's areas of expertise include human resources,
information technology services, outsourcing, and strategy and operations. Along with accounting firm
Deloitte & Touche, Deloitte Consulting is a unit of Deloitte & Touche USA, which in turn is an affiliate
of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu. Other Deloitte & Touche USA units offer financial advisory and tax
services.
Deloitte Consulting's plans to split from Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu were shelved in 2003, and Deloitte
Touche Tohmatsu must still address concerns over conflicts of interest between its consulting and audit
businesses. To avoid conflicts, the consulting firm doesn't do business with Deloitte & Touche auditing
clients.
Upon being separated from Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, Deloitte Consulting planned to take the name
Braxton. But after the idea of spinning off the consulting operations was set aside, Deloitte Touche
Tohamatsu instead decided to integrate all of its operations under the Deloitte brand.
Deloitte Consulting sold its finance and accounting outsourcing business to Convergys Corporation in
2005.

Four years after facing strong pressure to split, Deloitte & Touche USA LLP (Deloitte & Touche USA)
reaps the benefits of preserving its consulting offerings. An article in BusinessWeek describes how
keeping the Deloitte U.S. Firms together has proven a wise strategy for Deloitte & Touche USA, years
after many firms split off their consulting offerings. In the years since, Deloitte Consulting LLP has
grown in services offered to nonaudit clients, which have become a significant portion of overall offerings
in the United States and an even bigger part of services offered abroad. During the past years, Deloitte &
Touche USA has implemented an organizationwide system of checks to manage any potential conflicts,
including yearly attestation to independence by each employee and internal teams to conduct random
audits and ensure compliance.
August 9, 2006 - Deloitte Consulting LLP announced today that it has acquired DeepDive™, a timetested methodology that can be used to help executives harness the power of teams to significantly
improve problem-solving speed, innovation, and results. Andy Boynton, co-developer of the
methodology, explains it this way: “DeepDive™ is a tool that Deloitte Consulting is using to “virtuosoize” its own teams and its client’s teams—not just on one project, but on many important projects.”
July 20, 2006 - Despite increases in 401(k) plan participation, many employees are financially
unprepared for retirement, according to the 2005-2006 Annual 401(k) Benchmarking Survey, conducted
by Deloitte Consulting LLP, the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans and the
International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists. Despite increased participation,
respondents believe the majority of employees are not taking advantage of their 401(k) plans to
effectively fund their retirement. A surprising 13 percent of survey respondents agree with the statement
that “most employees are/will be financially prepared for retirement.”
September 12, 2005 - Deloitte Consulting LLP announced its participation as a strategic sponsor in the
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Research Center at the University of Arkansas’ Information
Technology Research Institute. The RFID Research Center is an independent “live environment”
laboratory developed for the creation and dissemination of RFID knowledge across industries and supply
chain fields. Unlike some other RFID labs, the Center has no vested interest in the use or implementation
of any one type of technology over another. This neutral third-party research and testing facility will
allow companies an unbiased environment to complete RFID, wireless and sensor technology testing.
