FROM YOUR PASTORS
Ever since the two of us have been at Trinity as Pastors, Carmen has been a steady and faithful
presence in our church office. She has participated in many ways to carry out the work of the church in
our community. We, as Pastors, would like to take this opportunity to say, THANK YOU,
CARMEN!!! for the many ways you have helped us (and kept us in line) and served Christ. God bless
you in your new life venture as you move from here. These words from Paul in Philippians 1:3-6
seems appropriate, “I thank my God every time I remember you, constantly praying with joy in every
one of my prayers for all of you, because of your sharing in the gospel from the first day until now.”
At the same time we welcome Jessica Ostrom as our new office manager at Trinity. We look
forward to working together with you in God's ministry. Your friendly smile and joyful attitude will
carry on the welcoming presence that Carmen has fostered at Trinity for the past 15 years. Together
we all serve the Risen Lord who is full of joy.
Pastors Bruce and Russ

LYO Summer Trip to the Twin Cities!
We are planning a trip for July 14-18! That's a later date than first proposed, because more people said
they would be able to go then. We will leave after church on Sunday and return Thursday night, with visits to
Valley Fair, the MN Science Museum, the Como Zoo, and a homeless shelter among other sites.
Right now, we have room for 8 youth to ride with Pastor Russ and myself in our vehicles. The first 8 to
turn in registrations would therefore be guaranteed to be able to go on the trip. After that, if many more wanted
to go, we would possibly arrange for a smaller bus. If more than 8 sign up, we will do our very best to arrange
for more drivers / adult chaperones. If you know of a parent or an adult that would be willing to go with us and
provide transportation, please let me know.
The cost will be $100 - $50 paid in deposit with your registration and the balance paid when we leave.
All other costs will be paid by Trinity LYO, including the cost for gas, food, lodging, and tickets for all fun we
will have. Turn in your registration by June 2 (or earlier to guarantee a spot!), and we'll keep you updated on
our plans.
Thanks for your interest. Looking forward to a great experience with you.
In Christ's service,
Pastor Bruce
Missing anything from your kitchen? We have many unclaimed pots and pans that have been left. You can
find them in the kitchen or ask in the office for help. Any unclaimed items will be put in the fall rummage
sale.
Take a trip down memory lane. We have old church directories available in the library, have a look or take one
home!

SPRING RUMMAGE SALE
The spring rummage sale at Trinity was a huge success! The Slovakia Mission Team would like to
thank everyone who donated items; those who helped us unpack and set up, and to everyone who came to give
support by shopping the loaded tables, or by enjoying a roll and coffee. We truly were able to turn "trash" into
"treasure" by making a little over $2,030.00!!!! Thanks to the mission team for the hard work and dedication,
and again, a BIG "thank you" to everyone who helped us to make this such a successful adventure! Dákujem!!

To my family at Trinity Lutheran Church,
Wow - 15 years. So much has changed and so much has stayed the same. And for both I am thankful.
When I first started this job, JoAnn Hollatz told me that several secretaries had been here 10 years so I should
plan on staying at least as long. And thanks to Elaine Gussiaas, I learned to drink coffee........ black. She didn't
mind that I had to douse it with cream and sugar in the beginning. I have learned so much from so many in my
time here, thanks for all of you.
I've celebrated many milestones with families, either through births, baptisms, marriages and even
funerals. Thank you for letting me be a part of all of them. And thank you to our Pastors over the years I've
been here - Bruce, Sarah and Russ - and also Holly, Val and Lois for serving our church and community in so
many ways.
I am thankful for all of the well wishes. While I am very anxious to start my new life with my husband,
Mike, I will miss all of you here. But I will be back to visit. I have to check on my bulletin crew - Olaf, Doug
and Smiley, Gen - and hopefully Mike can join us over a cup or 3 of coffee on Friday mornings.
Thank you for welcoming Jessica as she takes over the duties in the office. She has a big job ahead of
her, but I know the church is in very capable hands. Please continue to support her as you did me.

PARISH NURSE NUGGETS. . . from Holly Zieman, RN
I recently attended a Women's health conference initially started by our former North Dakota First Lady
Mikey Hoeven. The conferences are held semi-annually in Fargo and Bismarck. It is a fun-filled, relaxing day
of STRESSING LESS AND LAUGHING MORE! If you would like information about the September
conference in Bismarck, please contact me at 652-3073. These are some nuggets from Colette Carlson's
presentation.
7 Ways to Stress Less,
Laugh More!
1. Speak Your Truth. Align your thoughts, words, and actions with your truth. Say what you
mean and mean what you say. Then, back it up with action. Don't just say, "That's funny."
LAUGH!
2. It's not about time management; it's about you management. Control what you can and let the
rest go! Ask yourself: What's the gift in this moment? Pause, breathe and focus on gratitude:
I'm too blessed to be stressed.
3. Got Guilt? You give yourself too much to do, run out of time and then feel guilty you failed
to do the impossible. Try this: Take responsibility and change the situation OR own your
choices and stand in your truth. It's okay to be Self-ISH - I Stay Healthy. I Stay Happy.
4. Create a NOT to do list. Slap things on the ditch list that take you away from more important
values and priorities. Remove items you'd like to get done if you had the time but don't
increase your bottom line. Manage your expectations and accept there's more stuff than time
to do it. Reallocate your energy towards what you want most.
5. Life is not about perfection, but connection. Realistically, 80% is good to go. See managing
expectations! Life and love are messy and memories are most important. Stop should'ing on
yourself. Everything is not perfect but I am perfect with everything.
3
6. Stop multi-tasking and multi-asking. Become a clear, direct ask master - it's not a sign of
weakness but a healthy way to stay strong.
7. Be child-like (not-childish). Embrace and take care of your inner child. Give yourself
permission - if you need a nap, a cry, playtime, a snack, do it.

Spring is here, summer coming, and it's time to slow down, take a deep breath, and enjoy the blessings
of nature and life God has given us. Remember to stress less, laugh more, and appreciate God's blessings every
day.

TLCW BOARD MEETING
MAY 6, 2013
The TLCW Board met Monday May 6, 2013 at 7:00 pm. President Sharie Mattson called the meeting to order. Also
present were Lynelle Bachmeier, Becky Hagel, Julee Ermann, Dorothy Fenske, Val Ellingson, Lea Dell, Patty Hertel,
Jodie Davis, Jana Davis, Stacey Rzaszutak, Kristy Sauby.
The Secretary's report was read by Lea. In the report the balance and income of the treasurer's report were incorrect. It was
corrected as follows: due to a Federal Reserve check error- a check of $12,564.91 to Bremer Bank in Gilby, ND (not our
Bank Forward in Carrington) was charged to our account. The balance was $784.05. Jodie made a motion to accept the
corrected report; Kristy seconded it; motion passed.
The Treasurer reported a balance of $784.05, with income of $487.03, expenses of $411.57. Becky said adjustments were
made to balance the account. Check #1253 to the ND School for the Deaf of $50.00 in 2010 was not cashed. It will be
canceled to balance the account. Discussion in our December meeting will decide to add the $50.00 to the $50.00 they
will receive. Ending balance is $13,474.42. Bills submitted were: Central Business Systems - $144.00, Super Valu $163.51, Dacotah Paper -$57.99, Creative Treasures for Senior's blankets -$190.70, and Julee for coffee hours - $88.69 - a
total of $644.88.
Motion was made by Dorothy and seconded by Julee to accept the report and pay the bills;
motion passed.
Reports: GROWTH- Jodie reported that 30 attended the Spring Tea April 28.
ACTION - Patty said they had no information about the LWR Drive, so no health kits will be sent this year. She will take
the quilts and school bags to Fargo, possibly Monday.
CORRESPONDENCE: Thank you was received from: Foster County Soil Conservation for the use of an electric roaster
and carafes used for Ag Day and from Patti Skadberg for serving the funeral. RWBC extended opportunities to join their
celebrations; the quilt auction will be August 25. Atonement Lutheran Church, Fargo sent an invitation to their LCMC
Women's event to be held May 11. No one volunteered; too little time to plan for it.
NEW AND UNFINSHED BUSINESS: There is no Sunshine Committee chairperson, so Holly Z. will help with others to
visit shut-ins. There was discussion with little information about the Archives safe. President Sharie will contact Donna
Veen and Karen Buskness about this. The FAIR Board met- Sheila Harrington, Sharie, Women's Auxiliary; Federated
Church was absent. The Auxiliary will withdraw from serving, so there will be two organizations serving meals. The Fair
is June 25, 26, 27.
Val Ellingson presented a bill for $180.00 for a new carpet cleaner. Julee made motion to pay it; seconded by Patty;
motion passed. Val will be going on a mission to Madagascar June 4 to 28. She will have a substitute for cleaning the
church. Dorothy made a motion to send $300.00 for the mission, Stacey seconded it, motion carried. We need a new
sheet for signing out tablecloths. Dorothy reported on the needs for the parsonage; these were tabled to the next meeting.
The meeting closed with everyone praying the Lord's Prayer. The next meeting will be June 3 at 7:00 pm. Devotions will
be by Mary-Esther Circle.
