Induction week: Winter ’02 Congratulations on your nomination into the International Thespian Society Troupe 850! We, your Thespian Elders, are most proud of your accomplishments and are pleased to invite you to undergo the time-honored tradition of Inductions. Since the inception of the Society, inducting new member through the coarse of a theme week has been a fun and vital part of the induction process. Each of your Thespian Elders has passed through Induction Week and stands before you with a lit torch to guide you through the process. First and foremost the Thespians are an honor society. This means that we only perform and act in such a manner that the Thespians before us would be proud of. We are a family and wish to see you succeed as we did. Preparations are already underway for your final ceremony should you complete the tasks, which lay before you. We assure you that dedication and extreme displays of creativity will bring you toward you goal of induction. Your mission begins here: Tuesday, December 18, 2001 You will need to proceed directly to D lot at the end of 6th period. There your first test will be waiting for you. Bring only clothes, which will not inhibit your activities in any way. We cannot promise you will stay clean. Plan to stay at least 1 hour. Tuesday, January 8, 2002 Today begins a theme of costume days. Each has a tradition, meaning, point or significant entertainment value behind it and is VERY important to your induction process. You will need to show your creativity here! The days are as follows: Tue. 8th -Greek Day (wear the best, and most unique togas!) Wed. 9th -Broadway Character Day Thur. 10th -Superhero Day (this can be your own or your favorite comic) Friday 11th -Mime Day (you will take a vow of silence which shall not be broken until Saturday night at the Silent Auction/Night of Scenes) Each of these days you will be required to meet in a specific place before class (usually in the hallway in front of Haskett’s office door) There you will display your costumes and be inspected by the Thespians. You will be competing for awards based on themes for each day. All new inductees will need to prepare a song or monologue which somehow ties in with their costume from one day or something that is just really funny to watch. This will have to be written on a card, which you will wear around your neck and recite anytime, a Thespian Elder asks that you do so. You must plan to attend the Silent Auction/ Night of Scenes. Part of your duties will be to help the Thespians and parents set up in the cafeteria as well as in the auditorium. You must also bring in an item such as coffee or lotions, soaps, etc. which can be placed in a theme basket of goodies to be auctioned off. Only quality items which are worth biding on. Do not feel the need to spend too much money! Please plan to stay at least 15-30 minutes after school as well. You must obey and respect the wishes of the Thespians with the knowledge that nothing we ask shall be intended to neither humiliate nor cause you be put in danger nor will these actions warrant any disciplinary actions from teacher and administration. Our activities should not interfere with class nor school work. The International Thespian Society does not condone hazing. This week will certainly be a highlight of this school year for all of us. Each of the Thespians wants very much to make this a fun and memorable week for everyone. Remember that this is a time to be unique, be wild and show your inner Drama Geek. No other time will you be allowed to walk around looking so silly at school and not be the outcast! So start planning and thinking about costumes. There will be more information to come, as it becomes available. Break a Leg! Tyler King Parliamentarian
