Central Union School District is made up of four elementary schools and is located in Central
California's San Joaquin Valley. We are about forty five minutes south of Fresno. There are four
schools in our district. All four are California Distinguished Schools. Our two schools located on
the Naval Air Station, are National Blue Ribbon Schools. We have approximately 1906 students
enrolled in all four schools. The Central Union School District has two federal facilities within
its boundaries: The Santa Rosa Rancheria and the Lemoore Naval Air Station.
Leadership in Central School District is provided by a seven member board. Board members take
an active part in the education of all Central children.
Central is very proud of its technology program. Classrooms have an average of 3 computers in
each room and many classrooms have mini labs with 6-10 computers. The District maintains ten
(10) Macintosh OS X Servers and two (2) Macintosh OS X Database Server. These servers
provide student and administration access to data on the network, as well as providing access to
the Internet via the Wireless WAN connection.

about our school and our district. Since home and school unity and cooperation are keys to
school success, we hope that you will gain a better understanding of our school community
through the information provided. We encourage all community members to visit and become
familiar with our unique small school.
Kit Carson Elementary School has a long-standing tradition of excellence. We have received
reward funds from the state in the past for our academic excellence. Our Academic Performance
Index (API) scores have continued to increase; however, we continue to explore new educational
ideas and trends to improve our effectiveness with children.
Kit Carson School has accomplished many projects in recent years. We have painted the school
and given it a much brighter modern look; we have modernized four classrooms and the
cafeteria; we have built a new playground; we have implemented a band program; we have
started a preschool; we started our After-School Adventure Program serving close to 80 students
a day; we modernized our network infrastructure and are in the process of installing a tower for
wireless internet access.
We will sustain and improve the quality of our academic program and will continue to look for
ways to provide intervention for students who are at risk of academic failure. We're striving to be
a full-service school providing for the needs of all the children of our community.

Profile
Lakeside Union Elementary School District (LUESD) is one of the most unique school districts
in the whole of the Golden State. Located in the quaint town of Hanford, the residents enjoy a
semi-rural life while still only a 15 to 45 minute drive to the conveniences of the bigger cities of
Visalia and Fresno. LUESD faces the challenge of educating many children who come to the
school lacking many of the fundamental skills and background that are so necessary to help
promote early success.
