Adam Cherry – Speech at 20 Sept 2014 Candidates Meeting, Tiverton 1 - Answer one Reciprocity - My answer is that ward 2 and ward 3 pay their share in taxes to our municipality, and should not be ignored. The idea of using tax money to pay for the community centre, bike paths, street lights and walking trails will receive a Yes vote, from me. I believe that we can send in a query, to determine cost associated, to the Community Centre, bike paths, street lights and walking trails. We can get the construction, development, and the completion of this project within my term in office. 2 - Sale of Bruce Telecom - In regards to this question, I believe that the meeting behind closed doors, which was for selling the Bruce Telecom, would not have received my vote. With reasons being, that Bruce Telecom has been a important part of this municipality, in regards to employment, and what I understand from reading, and listening, to what our community members have to say, the majority of the people want our municipality and our council meetings to not be behind closed doors . I will promise to help out the majority with my council vote, with only voting yes, to open door meetings, of all and any municipality issues. I believe the sale of Bruce Telecom, behind the closed doors was inappropriate by the current council. 3 - Reciprocity - Ward 3 receiving 25 million from the Bruce Telecom sale and ward 2 receiving 13.5 million the wind project, my vote would be to use some of that money to help with renovating, the Kincardine Theatre of the arts, constructing the community centre, bike trails, street lights , walking paths and street lights in Ward 2 and 3 . I will vote to use that money to help the municipality. Vote Adam Cherry to reduce the taxes, for all the great citizens of our Municipality. [from what I have read the natural gas, will not be of much benefit, especially to ward 2 and ward 3, and at millions of dollars, it could cause taxes to increase. Vote for me, I will help to prevent this debt from incurring. Also a promise to reduce, yes, to reduce taxes during my term in office] 4 - I have read many articles, and have got informed of this topic (DGR). After review of the information, I believe the DGR, deep geological repository, if needed, should not be built anywhere near our great citizens of the municipality of Kincardine, or the community of the great lakes, in which we share with many communities. So to me this is a two part question. 1) would I support the DGR in a plan to build the site anywhere here, No not in our beautiful municipality, and 2) not near the shared great lakes 'Huron' . I am on the side of the people and their concerns of the unknown, and the possible endangerment of water, and their health. I will not support the DGR in our ' backyard ', or near our water. But, if building a DGR must be done for low and medium nuclear waste, I would agree to put it somewhere, in the Canadian Shield, or another part of the planet, as long as there is enough scientific merit. A DGR is safe, secured, and that it will not cause health problems or environmental concern to those citizens. So a vote for me is a vote for the security, and a vote, for Adam Cherry, is to make sure our community remains safe, and problem free. 5 - I do not agree, with the broken promise that was made to the great citizens of the municipality, of charging the citizens the money ($7,260) for a water pipeline that these citizens did not want, nor need. I believe a promise made, should be a promise kept. A vote for me will be for a promise, to never, let this happen, to the people of our Kincardine Municipality ever again. Thank you. I would like to disconnect any homes that do not want that water, and want to use their well. Or I would want that extension of time to pay for their new water to be interest free 6 - I would not support the mandatory water pipes in Inverhuron and I would to vote prevent the water pipes from being mandatory in Inverhuron. A vote for me would help the people, of Inverhuron and Kincardine and to prevent the mandatory hookup of this water pipe, or any other forced water pipes. Therefore, I would vote to allow Inverhuron property owners, decide if they would want the water pipes. I want to be a politician of the people, and for the people, of this great community of the Municipality of Kincardine. Vote Adam Cherry, thank you.
