Spanish Syllabus- First Grade Teacher: Tia Beltz Phone:(502) 863-1393 ext. 8018 Hours: 8:45 a.m.-12:10 p.m. Email: tia.beltz@scott.kyschools.us Grades Levels: 1st grade - 4th grade Description of class: In Spanish, we will be working towards acquiring the Spanish language by learning to speak, read and write in Spanish. This is a life-long process! First grade is an introduction to the basics of Spanish. We will learn basic principles like ABCs and numbers and basic conversation skills. We will also cover many cultural aspects of the Spanish culture. This includes holidays, traditions and the arts just to name a few. Goals: The first goal is to help students communicate by connecting with other cultures and comparing what they learn to their own lives. It is our goal as a community of learners (parents, teachers and students) to create more well-rounded students that are tolerant and knowledgeable of other cultures. But most importantly, it’s our goal to have fun! Learning through dance, song and experiences is the best way to learn a language! Sharing in the fun and learning can help motivate your students and create more permanent learning. The best way to know you have something down is to teach it to someone else. So let your students “teach” you and we can learn together! Requirements: I only ask that students always give their best faith effort and have a positive attitude in class! No student will ever be punished or penalized for not pronouncing a word or for a misspelling. Learning a language is hard work but very rewarding! I just ask for 100% from all my students! Resources: If you want to know what is going on in the classroom, check out the Teacher’s Website link on the right hand side of Western’s homepage.
