As part of implementing Strategy I in our system’s Strategic Technology Plan … Strategy I: Create a single, system-wide suite of online teaching and learning tools that provides all Washington students with easy access to “anywhere, anytime” learning. … on July 1, 2009, SBCTC eLearning will fund the technology fee for any Washington community or technical college that wants to participate in the NW eTutoring Consortium. The NW eTutoring Consortium currently includes 20 Washington Community and Technical Colleges (see list below), Washington State University (WSU) and two Oregon community colleges. The colleges in the consortium use a common technology platform that is hosted by the Connecticut Distance Learning Consortium to provide eTutoring for all their students. The Northwest eTutoring Consortium has been operating since January, 2008 and participating colleges have branded portals (e.g., Peninsula College, Tacoma Community College, etc.). Current subject areas covered: accounting, anatomy and physiology, biology, calculus, chemistry, math, MS Office 2007, Spanish, statistics, writing. This service is available to all Washington Community and Technical Colleges starting July 1: WSU will bill SBCTC for your college’s technology fee ($2,500 for most colleges). New colleges will pay a one-time set up fee ($500) to WSU to brand your college site. All member colleges provide 5 hours of tutoring each week. WSU and the State Board have combined funds to hire a full time project coordinator who creates a single schedule for all tutors. Questions?
