Chapter 1
Father Wolf finds a Man’s Cub in the jungle and brings it back to his cave where Mother Wolf looks
after it. Shere Khan, the tiger, comes looking for it.
Chapter 2
Shere Khan, the tiger, wants the Man’s cub to eat but the Mother and Father Wolf will not let him
have it. They call the Man’s cub Mowgli and he becomes a member of Pack.
Chapter 3
Mowgli learns to live the life of a wolf. He learns the Law of the Jungle but Shere Khan makes trouble
for him. Bagheera teaches Mowgli about fire.
Chapter 4
Mowgli goes to the village to get fire. There is a meeting of the Pack to choose a new leader
because Akela is old. Mowgli is in danger but he makes the wolves and Shere Khan afraid of him.
Chapter 5
Akela tries to make the wolves change their minds about Mowgli but they do not listen to him as he
is not their leader any more. Mowgli uses his fire to save himself.
Chapter 6
Mowgli goes to a village where a woman takes him into her home. She thinks he may be her lost
son. One of his friends from the Wolf Pack comes to give him news about Shere Khan.
Chapter 7
Mowgli lives in the village and learns many things. He also learns that the villagers believe many
wrong things about animals. He makes them angry by telling them this so they send him away to
look after the cattle.
Chapter 8
Mowgli skins the dead tiger and takes it back to the village but the villagers do not trust him and
make him go away. He takes the skin to the Wolves meeting place and gives it to them. Then he
leaves and begins a new life.
