Latin Drumming Royalty Bobby Sanabria Joins Fundraiser Line up Bobby Sanabria, one of the best known and highly respected musicians of Afro-Cuban and Latin music today will be drumming at the Ferry Godmother Music Circuit fundraiser to support live music. Other stellar musicians like Christopher Dean Sullivan and Joe Tranchina will join Bobby. They will provide music for Gabrielle Tranchina and the legendary Lillie Bryant. The event will allow Ferry Godmother Productions to continue to provide free outdoor concerts under the Ferry Godmother Music Circuit brand. The fundraiser will be held on Thursday May 30, 6:30pm at the Arboretum, Thomas Bull Memorial Park in Montgomery NY. General admission tickets are $25.00, for details visit www.FerryGodmother.com Despite growing up in one of the toughest neighborhoods of New York City, Sanabria has gone on to be a seven-time Grammynominee in Latin jazz music. Combining his passion for performing with education, Bobbie teaches audiences around the world and students in classrooms in New York City about the history and legacy of Afro-Cuban Jazz Music. In recent years Bobby gained notoriety for leading a protest against the elimination of the best Latin Jazz album category from the Grammy Awards eliminated the best Latin Jazz. After a lawsuit, petitions and vocal protests, the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences reinstated the Latin Jazz category. Sanabria attended Boston’s Berkley College of Music at a time when Latin music education was unknown. In college, he became known as the ‘guy with the Latin records. After receiving a bachelor’s degree in music, he started a career as a percussionist and drummer sharing the stage with the legendary figures whose albums he grew up listening to. Bobby has performed over 30 years as a professional musician. He’s recorded eight albums and played as a soloist while leading three musical ensembles. He has traveled throughout the U.S. and abroad to countries in Latin America, Europe and Asia sharing his love for Latin music. At the Ferry Godmother Music Circuit fundraiser Bobby will be performing with Gabriela Tranchina who is known for singing in up to 7 languages in jazz and pop genres. Showcasing the evening will be the legendary Lillie Bryant. Lillie, formerly of the Billie and Lillie duo was on the Billboard charts for over 10 weeks in 1958. She went on to share the stage with musical greats like Sam Cooke and Jackie Wilson.
