PROGRAM OVERVIEW The Fund for Public Health in New York (FPHNY) in collaboration with New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYC DOHMH) received a three-year award from the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (a Health Care Innovation Award) starting in September 2014. This opportunity, Innovate and Network to Stop HCV and Prevent complications via Integrating care Responding to needs and Engaging patients and providers (INSPIRE Project), will significantly expand DOHMH’s activities in addressing the holistic care for Hepatitis C. Project INSPIRE NYC is an integrated, innovative, and evidence-based comprehensive service model that combines the use of hepatitis C surveillance data, facilitated case identification, care coordination, health promotion, medication adherence support, and hepatitis C infection-centered primary care that is supported by expert consultation via telemedicine and that includes collaborative behavioral health services. The primary aim is to demonstrate a model of service delivery and payment that can reduce morbidity and death from chronic illnesses and reduce costs associated with its complications, using chronic hepatitis C infection as a case study. Project INSPIRE NYC will use an integrated medical and behavioral health service model with a bundled and capitated payment system developed with participating managed care organizations. The Project will emphasize prevention through health promotion activities to increase selfmanagement and medication adherence skills and through a comprehensive care model that goes beyond traditional clinical service delivery models. POSITION OVERVIEW The intern will report to the Evaluation Coordinator and work on several aspects of hepatitis C, including evaluation activities for Project INSPIRE. The work includes survey data collection, data entry, and data management and analysis. The position pays $13.90-$21.97/hour and is commensurate to education and experience. Specifically, duties will include but are not limited to: RESPONSIBILITIES Assist in INSPIRE evaluation activities; Assist in survey design, implementation, and primary data collection from survey participants; Help develop and maintain the Access database; Help plan and organize the logistics for the implementation of survey collection; Assist in data entry and quality assurance of survey data; Assist in quantitative and qualitative data analysis; Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Recent Masters graduate or Masters level student; Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills; Excellent attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment; Working knowledge of statistical software (SAS, SPSS) preferred; Working knowledge of qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis preferred; Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, and Power Point; Ability to work independently and in teams to collect and analyze data; Spanish fluency preferred.
