Software Packages Seminar requirements International Business and Economics in English, 2nd year Seminar activity will result in a project presentation. The project will use the MS Excel and SAS software packages to perform an analysis of an organization's activities and its possible expansion opportunities. The project will be done individually or in teams of 2 students, using data from the same organization. For each software package at least the following functions will be used: Excel: lookup functions, financial functions, goal seek, pivot table SAS: - Import a non-SAS file and create a SAS data set Queries Internal and external joins Use of prompts SAS report SAS graph Statistical analysis User defined formats Document Builder User defined styles The project will be written in MS Word, will be structured on software packages and functions and, for each function, the following will be specified: a) Problem definition b) Information needed c) Calculation methods, algorithms and formulas used (if applicable) d) Presentation of the results e) Economic interpretation of the results The project will be delivered in electronic format and will contain the MS Word document, the Excel file and other files to solve specific requirements for SAS. It is preferred that all projects from a group of students to be placed on the same magnetic support (CD, DVD). Also, all files related to a project will be included in a folder with the full name of the author/authors of the project. Acceptance (and notation) of the project will be done after verifying the contents of the project and student’s knowledge regarding the use of software packages. The grade from the seminar represents 50% of the final grade. In order to pass the exam students must obtain a minimum 5 grade from the seminar and a minimum 5 grade from the exam
