HRD 101– PERSONAL MASTERY AND HUMAN INQUIRY The course encourages the graduate students to engage in introspection and reflection and enable them to acquire and model desirable life skills specifically positive attitudes and problem solving skills. They are oriented to the Lourdes College’s pillars of pedagogy, highlighting its core value system (Faith, Love, Service and Excellence) to include other pertinent theories, models and concepts that would help enhance the person’s personal mastery. HRD 102/102a – STATISTICS /RESEARCH METHODS These courses deal with the understanding, critical, and analysis and application of educational research methods and basic as well as inferential statistics. An initial research proposal is expected of the student which will eventually become his/her thesis proposal. HRD 401 - ORGANIZATION AND MANAGEMENT This attempts to reinforce the importance of a dynamic, systematized communication network in organization. The foci of study and class interaction will revolve around a deeper analysis on how the nature goals, forms, and levels, dimensions and processes of communication related to the theories, goals and function of organization as bases in the conceptualization of organizational communication system. HRD 402 – PROGRAM EVALUATION STRATEGIES AND APPLICATION The Program Design and Evaluation course is organized to provide graduate students with an introductory overview of the tools and techniques used to measure the activities, characteristics, effectiveness and efficiency of programs targeted towards specific populations. The primary objective of program evaluation is to provide feedback to decision-makers and other stakeholders, to determine whether a particular program is achieving desired outcomes at a reasonable cost. HRD 403 - FUNDAMENTALS OF ADULT LEARNING & PSYCHOLOGY OF FILIPINO WORKERS Conditions of learning through the life span and within a variety of cultural settings. Emphasis is given to the literature of adult learning as a distinct discipline and the diversity of forms of learning through an adult's life. A major discussion of the dynamics of the Filipino Workers is included in this course. HRD 404 - MANAGEMENT OF CHANGE This course discusses the theory, research, and practice associated with the process of empowering on organization wherein individual potentials are more fully realized. Focus is on the effective ways in which a leader becomes a power source which energizes on organization to work collaboratively toward a shared vision based on meaningful personal values. HRD 405 - MANAGING TEAM AND ORGANIZATIONAL CONFLICT This course an awareness on how organizational leaders are responsible for creating a work environment that enables people to thrive. Specifically, it covers the management of turf wars, disagreements and differences of opinion escalate into interpersonal conflict and the skill for proper intervention. Mediation skill and interventions are developed. HRD 406 – ORGANIZATIONAL COMMUNICATION AND HUMAN DYNAMICS This attempts to reinforce the importance of a dynamic, systematized communication network in organization. HRD 407 - PRESENTATION AND FACILITATION STRATEGIES OF HRD This course covers very basic skills needed by HRD practitioners in facilitation. It covers Training design and layout; use of visual aids for effective presentations. It also includes the actual conduct of training on the part of the student. This will also include the application of icebreakers such as games/team games, exercises and simulations. HRD 408 – PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT AND HUMAN BEHAVIOR IN ORGANIZATION The Course emphasizes on understanding the dynamics of human behavior in a corporate/industrial setting. It will provide students with insights on personnel recruitment, selection, hiring and promotion. The use of related assessment instruments are included. Employer-employee relations will also be discussed. HRD 409 - CONSUMERISM AND THE ENVIRONMENT This course deals with the consumer problems including credit, consumer motivation & behavior and the technology of buying various types of consumer goods. It also increasingly concerned towards a deeper understanding about the quality of our physical environment. HRD 410 - E-LEARNING AND KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT This course introduces the student to a wide set of electronic applications and processes, such as Web-based learning, computer-based learning, virtual classrooms, and digital collaboration. It includes the delivery of content via Internet, intranet/extranet (LAN/WAN), audio- and videotape, satellite broadcast, interactive TV, CD-ROM, and more. It also covers a discussion of the process of capturing, organizing, and storing information and experiences of workers and groups within an organization and making it available to others. By collecting those artifacts in a central or distributed electronic environment (often in a database called a knowledge base), KM aims to help a company gain competitive advantage. MASTER OF ARTS IN HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT (MA-HRD) HRD 411 - FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT AND CONTROL The course covers basic knowledge of the financial management of the organizations’ monetary resources. It allows greater understanding of the financial implications of the business decisions made and is essential to one’s professional growth. Mastering the fundamentals of finance as well as the advance concepts and techniques thereof is a must for today’s successful manager. HRD 412 - MANAGING CROSS CULTURAL DIVERSITY This course aims at developing the capability of students to handle multicultural collaboration, especially that of addressing cross cultural communication and cross cultural shock; respecting cultural differences and working together and building trust across cultural boundaries. HRD 413 - PEACE EDUCATION: HUMAN RIGHTS, DEMOC. & SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT The course promotes the building & administration of a culture of peace while exploring three issues intimately connected with it – the issues of human rights, democracy and sustainable development. It will also introduce the theory and practice on nonviolent social change and encourage students to be committed to peace-building in the family, community, nation and world. HRD 414 – Developmental Psychology A development of the psychological , cognitive, affective and social aspects of the life cycle, personality and educational theories, research and applications are considered in this course. HRD 415 – GLOBAL EDUCATION An introduction to the concepts, themes, perspective s, and strategies of Global Education. It is an emerging, relevant and future oriented field which promotes responsible participation in an interdependent world community.
