will analyze the United States involvement in World War II and the war’s influence on
international affairs in the following decades.
 10.01: Elaborate on the causes of World War II and reasons for the United States’ entry into the war.
 10.02: Identify military, political, and diplomatic turning points of the war and determine their significance to the
outcome and aftermath of the conflict.
 10.03: Describe and analyze the effects of the war on American economic, social, political, and cultural life.

65.Space Race/Arms Race-Competition between the US & Soviet Union, during the Cold War, to dominate space
and to develop more missiles/nuclear weapons than the other country.
66.2nd Red Scare-after WWII, people are again fearful of Communist take-over in the US; led to HUAC,

67.Holocaust- state-sponsored, systematic persecution and annihilation of European Jewry by Nazi Germany and its

targeted for destruction or decimation for racial, ethnic, or national reasons. Millions more, including homosexuals,
Jehovah’s Witnesses, Soviet POW’s, and political dissidents also suffered grievous oppression and death under Nazi
tyranny.
