Go Green with SketchUp! What is it? Google Sketch up is modeling software that empowers you to be 3D designers. Sketch Up is a great tool for learning how to construct 3D models of buildings, trees, cars, and the like. You can use it as a stand-alone tool or in conjunction with Google Earth and the 3D Warehouse. Expert Tip: Everything you need to get started with Google SketchUp can be accessed from within the application. The first thing you should do is watch the Quick Start videos by clicking on “View Tutorials” in the Help Menu. Many are using Google SketchUp to make decisions early in the design process, which will significantly affect the way their buildings perform. SketchUp helps architects explore options early enough to make a real difference. Choose one that appeals to you most and briefly summarize it. What is it about? Why does it appeal to you? Save, print and hand in when done. Make sure your name is typed at top of page. Activity 2: Using Google SketchUp located on your PC, complete: 1. Choose a case study that interests you. Based on the case study and the architect, you are to pick a building design and recreate it. 2. You can also use this link to locate samples of solar homes - http://www.sketchup.com/case-study/solar-passive-cabin-project-student-work. You may want to choose one of the projects listed to replicate. 3. Another option is to create your very own green building. It could be a home, school, mall, indoor sports complex, etc. Search the Internet for Green architecture and buildings. Please verify your design with me first. Advanced components, effects, and features were done properly. No errors. Creativity: Worked individually learning the program on your own. Showed creativity with project.
