Supplement 74 – Utilization of Worklist in Radiotherapy Treatment Delivery {WIR
2000-11-B}
This supplement was designated a Frozen Draft for Trial Use in October of 2008. In the intervening
years, it was tested during some IHERO connect-a-thons and has benefitted from the experience
gained in various additional trials and applications. At this meeting, WG-07 Chair David Murray
(accompanied by WG-07 members Uli Busch and Scot Hogan) reviewed all changes that had been
made in the document as a result of this input. Following this discussion, the WG-07 team began a
detailed line-by-line review of the entire document which incorporated all related CPs, including CP
1046; however, the time available was not sufficient to complete the review. A teleconference was
planned for April 22, 2010 to complete the review and, if appropriate, authorize its release for
Letter Ballot.
10.
Supplement 95 – Audit Trail Messages {WI 2001-11-C}
This supplement, which is being developed by WG-06, has been in the frozen draft state since June
of 2004. It was last considered by WG-06 in August of 2009. As he began the review, Supplement
Editor Rob Horn pointed out that the current draft for Transport Layer Security (TLS) does not
define UDP form and asked whether it should. Members agreed that it would be desirable. They
also observed that Reliable Syslog is dead. After this introduction, he scrolled through the
document page by page pointing out those parts that attracted comments and the changes that are
recommended to resolve the related issues. In all cases, consensus was reached. At the conclusion
of this discussion members unanimously voted to approve the document for Letter Ballot subject to
completion of a few minor edits.

Supplement 96 – Unified Worklist and Procedure Step {WI 2000-11-B & 2003-12-A}
This supplement was last considered during the January 2010 meeting of WG-06. At that time,
members voted to approve its distribution for Letter Ballot. However, the ballot was not scheduled
to close until the week following this meeting.
12.
Supplement 109 – SOP Instance Location Service {WI 2004-12-A}
Not discussed at this meeting. This supplement is under development by members of WG-06. It
was last considered by WG-06 in January of 2005.
13.
Supplement 115 – Evidence Document SOP Classes {WI 2003-12-B}
Not discussed at this meeting. The supplement is under development by members of WG-06. It
was last reviewed by WG-06 in January of 2006.
14.
Supplement 118 – Application Hosting {WI 2004-09-E}
This supplement is being developed by members of WG-23. It was last reviewed by WG-06 in a
Tcon on November 24, 2009 and, briefly, at the January 2010 meeting, where it was approved for
letter ballot. However, the ballot was not scheduled to close until the week following this meeting.
15.
Supplement 120 – Extended Presentation States {WI 2005-09-A}
This supplement was issued for Letter Ballot in October of 2009 and received two sets of comments
including one negative ballot. On behalf of WG-11, Joerg Illmann, Andre Mastmeyer, and Michael
Pisot reviewed each of the comments that had been received and the Group’s proposed response.
After some discussion with WG-06, agreement was reached on the handling of all comments
including the rejection of one concerned with CIELab values. The document was revised
accordingly and members voted unanimously to approve the document for Final Text.
16.
Supplement 121 – Modality Procedure Plan and Protocol Storage {WI 2006-04-E}
This supplement is under development by members of WG-06. It was last reviewed by WG-06 in
August of 2009. At this meeting, Kevin O’Donnell gave a short PowerPoint presentation to help
orient members to the nature of protocol storage and the recommended approach to standardizing it.
He also led a review of the open and closed issues and modified the document as suggested by the
Group. Members urged Mr. O’Donnell to get the CT working group (WG-21) involved in the
further development of this document and return again to revisit the topic and consider releasing it
for public comment.
17.
Supplement 124 – Communication of Display Parameters {WI 2004-12-B}
This document was last discussed at the WG-06 meeting in January of 2009. Forward progress has
been halted temporarily due to a job change for one of the champions and illness of the other.
18.
Supplement 129 – Electrophysiology Structured Reports and Procedure Log
Templates {WI 2006-04-A}
Not discussed at this meeting. This supplement is under development by members of WG-01. It
was last reviewed by WG-06 in August 2007.

Supplement 131 – Implant Templates {WIR 2007-03-D}
This document was reviewed by WG-06 at its January 2010 meeting and two subsequent
teleconferences in February and March. The members of WG-06, who were present for the March
Tcon, concluded that the document was, indeed, ready for letter ballot. However, since a quorum
was not present, the chair instructed the editor to place the updated document in the WG-06 private
FTP server for this (March 2010) meeting. On this occasion, WG-06 conducted a brief review of
the draft letter ballot version and voted unanimously to authorize its distribution for Letter Ballot.
20.
Supplement 134 – Implantation Plan SR IOD {WIR 2007-03-D}
This document was reviewed by WG-06 at its October 2009 meeting. At that time, members
concluded the supplement was ready for letter ballot. However, they recognized that future changes
in Supplement 131 could directly impact this document. Having just authorized a letter ballot for
Supplement 131, members conducted a brief review of the draft letter ballot version of Supplement
134 and concluded that no additional changes were needed. Accordingly, WG-06 voted
unanimously to authorize its distribution for Letter Ballot.
21.
Supplement 135 – SR/CDA Mapping {WIR 2007-06-C}
This supplement is under development by members of WG-20. It was issued for Letter Ballot
shortly after the January 2010 meeting. However, the ballot had not yet expired, so further
discussion will occur in a future meeting.
22.
Supplement 136 – DOT Mammography Storage SOP Class {WIR 2006-04-C}
Not discussed at this meeting. This supplement is under development by members of WG-15. It
was presented to WG-06 for a First Reading in January of 2008.
23.
Supplement 139 – Enhanced XA/XRF IOD Informative Annex {WIR 2002-06-A}
Not discussed at this meeting. This supplement is under development by members of WG-02. It
was presented to WG-06 at its meeting in January of 2010.
24.
Supplement 142 – Clinical Trial De-identification Profiles {WIR 2008-04-E}
This supplement was presented for First Reading in October of 2008. During this meeting, WG-18
Chair and Supplement Editor David Clunie presented version seven of this draft document and won
unanimous authorization to distribute it for Public Comment.
25.
Supplement 144 – Ophthalmic Axial Measurements Storage SOP Classes {WIR 200804-A}
This supplement was sent for Letter Ballot on January 6, 2010. It received 26 votes, none of which
were negative) and three sets of comments. On behalf of WG-09, Supplement Editor Don Van
Syckle reviewed each of the comments that had been received and reported on WG-09’s resolution
of those comments. Following this discussion, Mr. Van Syckle led members on a tour of the
changes made by WG-09 since the document was last reviewed. Unfortunately, the available time
was not sufficient to complete this review. A follow-up Tcon was scheduled for one hour on April
20, 2010 with the objective of approving the document for Final Text.

Supplement 145 – Whole Slide Microscopic Image IOD and SOP Classes {WIR 200611-C}
On behalf of WG-26, Harry Solomon, who was accompanied by WG-26 members Julian Burke and
Ole Eichhorn, presented version “pc+3” of draft Supplement 145 with the objective of winning
authorization to issue it for letter ballot. This Supplement was approved for Public Comment in
January of 2010. Four sets of formal comments were received as well as a number of e-mail
messages. As is customary at this stage, members began by looking at each of these comments in
turn and WG-26’s proposed response to them. Considerable attention was focused on the issue of
what to do about the existence of patents that could possibly affect the use of the technology
prescribed in this Supplement. Language will be drafted for possible inclusion in Standard that
would alert users to potential impact of such patents. That review was followed by a discussion of
the Open and Closed Issues. The adequacy of an RGB color space for multispectral imaging also
stimulated substantial discussion. Members concluded that they would follow the approach spelled
out in the response to the comments. After addressing these issues, members conducted a detailed
line-by-line review of the entire document and subsequently voted unanimously to approve its
distribution for Letter Ballot.
27.
Supplement 146 – Ophthalmic Visual Field (OPV) - Static Perimetry Measurements
Storage SOP Class {WIR 2006-04-H}
This supplement was released for Public Comment during the October 2009 meeting of WG-06.
Two formal sets of comments were submitted. During the January meeting, representatives from
WG-09 presented a pre-letter-ballot version of the document. Unfortunately, the time available for
review was not sufficient to complete the task. At a teleconference in March, those members of
WG-06, who were present, completed the review and agreed that it was ready for Letter Ballot.
However, a quorum was not present. During this meeting, members unanimously voted to release it
for Letter Ballot.
28.
Supplement 147 – Second Generation Radiotherapy {WIR 2007-06-B}
This Supplement received a First Reading at the WG-06 meeting in March of 2009. At this
meeting, WG-07 Chair David Murray (accompanied by WG-07 members Uli Busch and Christof
Schadt) led a review of versions 13 and 14 of the draft document. As is customary for Public
Comment reviews, Mr. Murray began by reviewing the Supplement’s Scope and Field of
application and the list of open issues. Next, Mr. Murray led a comprehensive review of the
normative sections of the supplement with members of WG-06 providing a substantial number of
improvements to both the content and the form of the document. Unfortunately, Part 17, which
provides general information on the application of the technology covered by the supplement, was
not available yet to help orient members to the less familiar radiation therapy content. Therefore,
Mr. Murray led members on a quick scan of the document to collect and integrate comments on its
structure and operational aspects. When the available time had been consumed, members invited
WG-07 to return in August with the full text of Part 17 to complete this public-comment review.

Not discussed at this meeting. This supplement is under development by members of WG-27. It
was presented to WG-06 for a public-comment review at the WG-06 meeting in January of 2010
and also at a Tcon on February 10, 2010.
30.
Supplement 149 – MPEG-4 Transfer Syntax {WIR 2008-09-B}
This supplement is under development by members of WG-13. It was last reviewed by WG-06 in a
Tcon on January 12, 2010 and later approved for Public Comment during the January meeting of
2010.
31.
Supplement 150 – National Radiology Report {WIR 2007-06-C}
Not discussed at this meeting. The development of this supplement is being undertaken by
members of WG-20. It was last reviewed by WG-06 in August of 2009.
32.
Supplement 151 – Intravascular Optical Coherence Tomography (IVOCT) Image
Storage SOP Class
On behalf of WG-01, Tom Probasco presented version #8 of this draft supplement with the
objective of winning authorization to issue it for Public Comment. As is customary at this stage of
development, Mr. Probasco began by reviewing each of the “closed comments” and explaining how
each had been resolved. Following this discussion, he moved on to a review of the tables and
supporting information. Numerous suggestions from WG-06 were implemented as the discussion
proceeded. Unfortunately, however, the additions to Part 17 have not been completed and were not
available for review. Members agreed to hold a Tcon on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 from 10 a.m.
to noon to complete this review.
33.
Long-term Consistency
Not discussed at this meeting. The development of this supplement is being undertaken by
members of WG-06. It was last reviewed in October of 2009.
34.
What to Do about Profiling
Not discussed at this meeting. The development of this supplement is being undertaken by
members of WG-06. It was last reviewed in October of 2009.
35.
Ophthalmic Thickness Map Storage SOP Class {WIR 2006-04-G}
On behalf of WG-09, Supplement Editor Don Van Syckle (assisted by Dr. Hiroshi Ishikawa, Tobias
Eugene Huang, Kurzke, and Flora Lum) presented an early draft of this supplement for a first
reading. Since this was mainly a familiarization briefing, considerable time was focused on the
Scope and Field of Application and use cases. Dr. Ishikawa explained that several ophthalmic
devices produce thickness and/or height measurements of certain anatomical features of the
posterior eye (e.g., optic nerve head topography, retinal thickness map). The measurements are
usually mapped topographically as monochromatic and/or pseudo color maps, and used extensively
for diagnostic purposes by clinicians. This proposed Supplement to the DICOM Standard
introduces a new IOD and SOP Class for topographic representation of the thickness/height

measurements of the posterior eye. The new IOD will be used with several types of ophthalmic
devices, alone and/or in conjunction with other DICOM IODs. Upon completion of this briefing,
members assigned it Supplement # 152.

3D Presentation States {WIR 2008-04-C}
Not discussed at this meeting. The development of a supplement on 3D Presentation States is being
undertaken by members of WG-11. It was last reviewed by WG-06 in June of 2009.

.dzm File Extension
WG-06 Chair Bas Revet brought members’ attention to a request from Dr. Allan Farman, chair of
WG-22, to initiate development of a new “.dzm” file extension for zipped DICOM persistent
objects. Dr. Farman noted that this topic was brought up in a February meeting of ADA-SCDI
12.1/DICOM WG 22. The objective of this proposal is to avoid firewall issues with .zip files. It is
especially necessary following an ADA House of Delegates resolution (83R-2009) that passed at
last years ADA Annual Session. This put the ADA staffers and officers "under the gun." Members
noted that to move this suggestion forward, a work item and short white paper will be required.
Also, they believe that it will affect IHE XDM and, therefore, needs to be coordinated with IHE.
The follow-up action was assigned to Rob Horn, former chair of WG-06 and present chair of IHE's
ITI, who will contact Dr. Farman directly.

Dermatology
Not discussed at this meeting. Brian Madden from the University of Rochester gave a presentation
at the August 2009 meeting of WG-06 regarding the need to revitalize WG-19 on Dermatology.
Members encouraged him to continue this effort. Individuals seeking to become involved with this
effort may contact Dr. Madden at Brian_Madden@URMC.Rochester.edu.
