Advent 2015
Dear Friends,
“A householder brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old.”
(Matthew 13:52)
This Advent Holy Rosary Church will again be our Advent Wreath. This
has been our Advent Wreath for a number of years already. It is one of
our old treasures.
Pope Francis has dedicated section III of Chapter Four of his
Exhortation on The Joy of the Gospel to the Common Good and Peace.
He teaches us that progress in Peace depends on four principles.
Pope Francis gives us something new to celebrate this Advent: four
principles of Peace.
The four principles are: 1) Time is greater than space. 2) Unity prevails
over conflict. 3) Realities are more important than ideas. 4) The whole
is greater than the part.
Time is greater than space.
It takes time for a people to be a family, to be a faith community, to be a
nation. Families can fight over who gets their parent’s home.
Parishioners can fight over who sits in which pew or who gets which
space for meetings. Nations continue to fight over control of territory.
Working together to build families, to provide adequate housing, to
share available space requires time. Leaders of nations need to work
so that all peoples have a rightful place. This work takes even more
time.
I hope these examples help us understand the message of Pope
Francis. May we learn to give the time required to have peaceful
families, peace in our parish and world. The Infant Jesus brings peace.

We extend our sympathy to the families, relatives and friends of our

Queridos amigos,
adecuada, a compartir espacio disponible requiere tiempo.
mundial. El Infante Jesús trae la paz.

HOLY ROSARY ST. VINCENT DE PAUL MEMBERS want

here; we need your help with donations for the next holiday, which
is Christmas. If you lost or did not pick up a list (which are located
on the tables in the Church) of the items SVDP is asking for, you
now have another chance. If you wish to donate something that is
not on the list, please make sure it is non-perishable; if you wish to
donate a turkey or a ham to one of our families, please bring it to
SVDP’s office on Tuesday or Wednesday between 10am and
12pm. You can also leave your donated non-perishable items at
the Church Office, Monday to Friday (9am to 2:30pm). Please

SCRIPTURE REFLECTIONS: After reflecting on today’s
Scripture readings, consider how you would answer the following
questions:
1.
2.
3.
Where do you find traces of hope in this generation that God’s
blessings are already on the way?
Saint Paul calls joy a fruit of the gospel. Do you seek, expect,
make room for joy?
When the unpredictable happens, am I thrown off a little or a
lot? How do I adapt to a world, and self, in constant flux?

SPONSORS FOR CHRISTMAS!
We are looking for Parish families or local Businesses who
would like to be a “CHRISTMAS SPONSORS” for one of our
families who might not be able to celebrate Christmas with full
holiday joy and happiness (because the head of household
has lost their job or because there isn’t enough money or
because of illness). We are receiving calls for help with
Christmas gifts for children who live in our Church
boundaries. PLEASE call Holy Rosary’s St. Vincent de Paul
on Tuesday or Wednesday from 10am to 12pm. You can also
call the Church Office to leave your name and phone number
and we will give it to SVDP.
