8th Grade Supply List 2015–2016 Welcome to 8th grade! We are looking forward to a wonderful school year with you as part of our team. Here is some information to help you get ready for September. On the first day of school, we will review your class schedule and locate your hallway locker. You will also have time to get acquainted with your classmates and meet your 8th grade teachers. Please remember that we are here to help you through your first day and all the days that follow. There are certain supplies that will help you stay organized and learn all that you can throughout 8th grade. We suggest the following supplies to start off the school year: For most classes o Loose leaf paper o Dividers o Pencils (a must for math)/pens o Highlighters o Colored Pencils o Folders with pockets Math (Mrs. Christiano and Ms. Hulbert) o One 1 ½- inch three ring binder divided into four sections (this binder is strictly for math) o Graph paper Language Arts (Mrs. Held and Mrs. Odim) o One 2-inch three ring binder (divided into four sections) o One 3-hole pencil case to go into binder Social Studies (Ms. Atta and Mrs. Nail) o One 1 ½ -inch three ring binder Science (Ms. Dharmi) o One 1 ½ -inch three ring binder (divided into four sections) o One Marble Composition notebook Science (Ms. Mastrogiovanni) o One 3-subject spiral notebook o One 2-pocket folder with prong fasteners o 2 bottles of glue o Colored pencils Math Explorations o One 1-inch 3-ring binder (can be left in classroom during the year) o 3 section dividers o Flash drive (can be used for another class) o Pencils o Expo Marker o Loose leaf paper Writing Workshop o One marble composition book o One 2-pocket folder World Language o 1-inch three ring binder with 5 dividers for World Language only o Pouch with zipper for supplies o Folder for World Language only o Filler paper o Flash USB drive (using the same one you have for your other classes is finecreate a World Language folder on the flash drive) o Pens and pencils o Highlighter (any color) o 2 dry erase markers o A set of coloring supplies-crayons, colored pencils and marker Lock o You will need two combination locks: one for your hallway locker and one for your gym locker. Key locks are discouraged since keys are easy to lose. Band – 7 & 8 Students provide: o Reeds (alto sax, tenor sax, baritone sax, clarinet, bass clarinet, oboe) as well as mouthpieces for trumpet, French horn, baritone, trombone and tuba. o Valve oil (trumpet, French horn, baritone, tuba. o Slide cream (trombone) o Drumsticks and stick bag for drummers, mallets with a stick bag for mallet players o Method book (all brass and woodwind players will use Essential Elements Book 2 Grade 7&8) o 3 ring binder (to place music and assorted hand out material provided by Mr. Gillick) o Pencils o Students are also responsible for their instruments and mouthpieces for trumpet Chorus o ½ inch binder Physical Education Supply List - All incoming 6th, 7th and 8th graders will be changing for Physical Education. The school provides lockers, however, the student must have a combination lock to secure all valuables during class. Also, all clothes worn to school must be changed to participate in class. Students may wear shorts, t-shirts, sweatpants, or sweatshirts and proper footwear (sneakers preferably). Students are also recommended to bring in some form of antiperspirant or deodorant (sprays are not allowed). Please purchase only these necessities to get you started. Each teacher will notify you of any other supplies that are needed for special projects or activities as they come up throughout the school year.
