Rank: Tenure Track Assistant Professor
Iliff School of Theology seeks to make a tenure track appointment in the field of Pastoral
Theology and Care, to begin July 1, 2016. In an ecumenical and increasingly interfaith environment, Iliff School of Theology prepares students in diverse religious and spiritual traditions and for a range of professional roles, including religious and nonprofit leadership, pastoral and spiritual care within communities of faith and in religiously diverse organizations, like health care and the military. Iliff hopes to make an appointment of a scholar committed to theological education with the promise of significant publications and innovative competence as a teacher in both residential and online courses. It is highly desirable that the successful candidate meet the following requirements:
An earned doctorate in the field of pastoral theology
Ability to teach pastoral and spiritual care and pastoral theology courses within the
M.Div. and Master of Arts in Pastoral and Spiritual Care (MAPSC) curriculum, and to offer advance level pastoral theology and/or psychology of religion courses for PhD students in the Joint PhD program with the University of Denver
Ability to teach pastoral care online in interactive ways, with attention to detail and organizational skills that convey a pastoral presence in an online format
Ability to engage in interdisciplinary teaching and dissertation advising within the broad sphere of lived religion (the faculty cluster of religion and human experience)
In-depth knowledge of one or more specialized areas of research and practice, including intercultural pastoral and spiritual care; spiritually integrated care within health care and behavioral health care; the study of lived religion using qualitative and quantitative research methods; pastoral and spiritual care that co-creates personal, communal and public theologies for those experiencing death, illness, disabilities, or morally stressful life experiences
Expertise about a historical U.S. marginalized community (i.e. African American,
Latina/o, Asian-American, Native American) and ability to teach concerning the intersectionality of oppressive structures a nd liberative care of persons and worlds that takes into account these interacting systems of social oppression
The Iliff School of Theology is a United Methodist-related graduate theological school with an ecumenical and interfaith spirit offering the following degrees: Master of Divinity, Master of
Arts, Master of Arts in Pastoral and Spiritual Care; Master of Theological Studies, Master of
Arts in Social Justice and Ethics. In addition we offer a Ph.D. in the Study of Religion with the
