Define: A system where the powers of different branches of government are checked by other branches to create an overall balance of power.
Separation of Powers
Define: A system where the state is divided up into different branches with specific powers given to each branch.
Limited Government
Define: A government structure where the government is prevented by a constitution or other formal document, from intruding on certain rights of the people.
Individual Rights
Define: The rights of the individual given by a government and separate from civil rights.
Ex. Executive enforces the laws, Legislative makes the laws, and Judicial interprets the laws.
