Noteworthy projects that I worked on are as follows:
1. Rebuild of Signalling faults database.
I was responsible for the redevelopment and optimisation of the Signalling faults database.
This BI improvement project captured diverse engineering fault data, corrective action
details, investigative details, financial impacts, asset equipment classification and fault
cause codings into a single database. Wrote import scripts, CorVu reports, excel macros
and user-forms for users to update system and get KPI extracts. Developed a suite of
automated excel charts to report performance, identify trends and support trend analysis.

2. Single Source of Performance Information
Member of Six Sigma project team gathering business requirements, evaluated business
options, planned and implemented the single source of performance information tool.
Defined data specifications, contributed to the business case, negotiated expectations and
timescales with supplier, user acceptance testing, organised and delivered training sessions.
Took on post-implementation role as technical specialist, system administrator and
champion of the Signals from Noise statistical reporting and dashboard analysis tool.
This Strategic performance project achieved an intuitive Statistical Process Control
methodology into performance management.
3. Lead developer in the Track and Signals Vice-President Peer Review summary.
Seconded to VP for an ongoing special-release project tasked to reduce the complexity and
duplication of producing a high priority 100 page monthly document requiring
contributions from multiple contributors. Necessitated effective stakeholder engagement to
understand current ‘as is’ processes and gather business requirements prior to major
redevelopment. Outcome was a robust A3 summary sheet with focus on top level KPIs.
This released staff to perform other tasks as well as eliminating duplication and reducing a
3 hour monthly VP and Chief Operating Officer meeting to an efficient 30 minute meeting.
Achievements:
 Raised the level of performance reporting in Signalling to new benchmark levels as a
result of a radical database rebuild combined with a comprehensive set of automated
performance reporting tools. The same methodology would be successfully applied to
two other business areas to produce an equivalent standard of performance outputs.
