How to Succeed in AP Psychology….
STUDY SKILLS
- Read: you need to expose yourself to the material 2 nights
(do not wait until the night before to start reading the material
and then try to learn all the definitions)
o Read Night 1 and make notecards / notes
o Refresh your memory Night 2 / Study the
notecards/notes
- Get into the habit of learning the concepts of the terms… not
word-for-word definitions.
o The AP Exam WILL NOT use the same phrases that
Myers uses…. but if you know the concepts, it should
not matter how the question is worded.
o Think about examples as you learn the concepts… try
to come up with your own examples (this requires
higher order thinking)
- Form a Study Group….
o This is always fun and actually CAN help you – quiz
one another. (The best way to learn something is to try
to teach it to another person)
- Do what works for YOU! – You have to learn how you learn
best… Is it writing notes? Is it reading aloud? Is it through
mnemonics?
- Studying requires time.
o Set aside a time to study / read
